Kansas City has some stellar waterfalls! Here’s how to find them: ā¬‡ļø šŸ’¦Watkins Woolen Mill, Excelsior Springs, MO: Park by the beach at Watkins Woolen Mill. Walk the Lake Loop Trail northeast about .75 miles until you reach some wooden stairs to your right. The waterfall is at the bottom of the stairs. It can dry up in the heat of the summer. šŸ’¦Cedar Creek Falls, Olathe, KS: Park off West Dennis Avenue at the southeastern most point of Lake Olathe. There is a paved path that takes you under the bridge, where you can view the falls. You can also kayak up to these falls. šŸ’¦Tryst Falls, Excelsior Springs, MO: You can view these falls on both sides, from the top and bottom at Tryst Falls Park šŸ’¦Triple Falls, Kansas City, MO: Park at the bottom of the hill down from the Line Creek Community Center. At the ā€œTā€ intersection take a right and walk for .8 miles to reach the falls. šŸ’¦Double Falls, Kansas City, MO: Park at the bottom of the hill down from the Line Creek Community Center. At the ā€œTā€ intersection take a left and walk for .3 miles to reach the falls. šŸ’¦Waterfall Park, Independence, MO: Park at Waterfall Park in Independence, Missouri. Walk south, up the hill along Bluff Drive, around the small lake (away from Bass Pro). You can also enjoy the playground near the parking lot and grab lunch at Los Cabos or the restaurant in Bass Pro Shops. šŸ’¦Cedar Lake Falls, Olathe, KS: Park at the northeastern most point of Cedar Lake. Follow the footpath down the straight part of the lake and down the hill. If you go left at the bottom of the hill it will take you to the top of the falls, right will take you to the bottom. Which of these do you want to explore? ā¬‡ļø

Spring is waterfall season! [SAVE this so you can refer back to it.] These are our favorite waterfalls near Kansas City: ✨Parkville Nature Sanctuary: my kids love to play in this one ✨Watkins Woolen Mill and Tryst Falls: These are near each other. Walk the loop at Watkins Woolen Mill to find the smaller one, then drive over to Tryst Falls. Be sure to stop in Kearney afterwards and grab food at one of their awesome restaurants or play at Lion’s Park. ✨Cedar Lake Falls: This one is hard to find, but there is a link in my bio to the location. ✨ Lake Olathe Falls: My photo of this one doesn’t do it justice, but you can actually paddle over to this one (or walk). ✨Line Creek: Continue left down the trail from the Line Creek Community Center. My kids love to splash around here. BONUS: Kessler Waterfall on Cliff Drive SHARE this if you want to check some of these out! A waterfall and a playground near Kansas City? Yes please! Head to Tryst Falls between Kearney, Missouri and Excelsior Springs. Pack a lunch because this is a great picnic spot too. BONUS: It’s practically across the street from Watkins Woolen Mill State Park. There is camping, boating, a swim beach, hiking and biking trails, an old mill, fishing, and more at that park! Make a day of it! SHARE this if you didn’t realize there was a waterfall and playground in Kansas City! FOLLOW @everydayoutdoorfamily for more local KC & Midwest adventures! One of the most beautiful spots around, take a little walk across the bridge, sometimes the water isn’t high enough to create a fall, but there is plenty of times you can see Tryst Falls at its finest, truly one of the most beautiful sights to just stroll along and relax. There’s a little playground here too for the kids, and a little shelter to sit at. Don’t leave trash here keep this place clean and as beautiful as it can be. It’s right down the road from the state park Watkins Mill, and can be a simple 5 minute walk or an all day stay just relaxing...

Maybe due to drought conditions, but it seemed that this place would have been more vibrant 50 years ago or more. No swimming, low, grey water. There is no lack of affluence from the barndominiums/ranches surrounding, wondering why taxes don't improve the amenities and water quality/flow. Visit the Ozarks or other clean spring fed streams of Missouri instead. I will say please visit the Jesse James farm nearby instead. Frozen in time and...

There are several great parks in this area with Tryst Falls being at the top of the list, in my opinion. Very natural landscape. Wonderful waterfall. Lovely creek/small river that flows from the higher level to waterfall, and then down to a nice opening below. Multiple covered picnic tables, grills, playground, baseball field, dog friendly. (Has posts with dog poo bags😁)..very scenic and easy to find. Great photo...
