Did you know that many of Walt Disney’s creations were inspired by his hometown of Marceline, Missouri? I’m here now in Marceline and here are some things every Walt Disney fan should see! Thanks to Citizen Watch and the Walt Disney Hometown Museum for hosting me. 🪧 Real-life Main Street. The small shops and turn-of-the-century style inspired the iconic entrances to Walt’s theme parks. The Disney family moved to Marceline in 1906 and Walt attended his first school here, so all of this must have felt like home to him! The same charm felt on Main Street here is certainly reflected when you enter the parks. 🚂 E. P. Ripley Park - This park is where the Disney family would spend a lot of their leisure time. There’s also a steam engine in Disneyland named after this park. 🌾 Disney Family Barn - Recreated just over 20 years ago after the original barn wore out, guests can sign their names inside it’s walls. Visit the Walt Disney Family Museum in Marceline to see how you can stop by the Disney Family farm. It also may be open during special events host at the farm. However, it is a private residence. 🌳 Dreaming Tree - One of the most legendary spots is his Dreaming Tree, a large cottonwood tree where he would draw pictures and imagine entertaining adventures. Though the original tree was struck by lightning, a sapling by it was replanted in the same spot. You can see an original Dreaming Tree branch in the Walt Disney Family Museum. 🌟 Follow me for more Disney adventures #waltdisney #mainstreetusa #marceline #missouri #mainstreet #CitizenWatchUS #DisneyFamilyFarm #waltdisneysmarceline

My kids, nephew and I spent about 3 hrs in Marceline visiting the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. We stopped to see Walt's childhood home and see the location of where his "Dreaming Tree" once stood. It was very cool to see this unique history of such an iconic man, who has made such a huge impact on the world. A plus was the busy train routine that passes through Marceline everyday. I enjoy train watching, and it was cool to see a long freight train pass through about every 25 to 30 minutes, right past the train depot, turned museum. Overall, it was an excellent day trip, from about 135, from Silex, Mo. My kids and i are from Jacksonville, Fl. We visit our family in Missouri, and we had to take advantage of the closeness of this town to experience the history of Walt Disney, the man. We have Disney World in our backyard in Florida. This aspect of his legacy was too cool, not to experience for ourselves. We're so glad we made the trip. I wish, more folk could take advantage of this awesome learning experience.

Well, I just had to check out more Disney history, so I landed here! I came here with my significant other intending on it being a special spot. A huge plus of this experience was that it was Free To The Public. There were signs throughout the land that were interesting and helped guide me during my visit. The Original Dreaming Tree was honored with a sign near where it once stood. Unfortunately, it was struck by lightning in 2008. Not too many feet away, The Son of Dreaming Tree was planted. Walt’s Barn was towards the end of my walk. It was built by volunteers in the summer of 2001 to help celebrate Walt’s birthday. It had a rustic look for sure! I was surprised that it was built so recent. I walked inside and it didn’t disappoint. Overall, I’m glad I stopped here! It was definitely worth the visit. If I’m ever near Marceline in the future, I’ll probably stop by again. Date of visit: Dec 3, 2023

I was staying in Hamilton Missouri. I was looking for some fun things to add into my stay there. I found out that Walt Disney grew up in Marceline Missouri.

I went to the museum and came to check out the dreaming tree and the barn. Keep in mind that if it's rainy or has rained that you should wear appropriate footwear. It's a very short walk but it can be very muddy.

It was really cool to check this out. Seeing all of the signatures inside the recreated barn was pretty neat. You can also walk to a small pond. I recommend checking this out after you've been...
