Found this place online after our usual farm for seasonal U-Pick/photoshoots canceled last year due to a small bloom. This place was a little far from me, but it was well worth the drive. The owners are lovely and were very helpful.
Went on September 23 at around 3pm on a cloudless day. The sun was harsh so many of my photos came out overexposed. If I remember correctly there is about a mile or so of trails cut throughout the flower fields. My daughter was 3 and walked the entire thing, but I think strollers/wheelchairs could make it if need be. It was so hot that some of the flowers we picked early on in the maze were a bit unhappy, but they perked back up after they got a good drink. Would recommend bringing a bucket or vase with some water.
There were a few props and seating areas throughout the maze that were great for photos or to take a rest. My daughter had such a great time. She liked reading the various informative plaques scattered along the route. The flowers were beautiful and the price was reasonable. It was fun trying to spot all of the different varieties of sunflowers. By time we reached the end, we had an armful of beautiful flowers.
I had packed things for a picnic that we were able to enjoy at their tables in the shade after the maze. So excited to go again...
Read moreThe Fields at Sunflower Trail 🌻 is a pleasant place to visit with an abundance of beautiful flowers to admire. They have cut a “maze” into the giant field of sunflowers for you to frolic through. Located between Statesville and Winston Salem, just miles north off of I-40. With the option to take a basket and clipping tools you can literally pick and cut your choice out of the acres of flowers you find along your journey. Best part is, it’s only $1 per stem. You can create your own hand picked bouquet for $10. Best part you can say you put it together yourself. The couple that owns the property are there to help once you exit the maze and wrap up your flowers for the safe travel home. Plenty of room to bring chairs and hang out, play games such as oversized Connect 4! I highly recommend visiting this location for a fun day outdoors. There’s also plenty of photo options, including a bench swing, large board you can stick your faces through and and archway decorated in...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting a sunflower field and The Fields at Sunflower Trail provided an A+ experience! They supply everything you need from buckets with water for you to carry through the trail, several styles of baskets, and clippers for cutting. The owner was very nice and accommodating to my mother and I.
The trail is wide and absolutely beautiful! Throughout the trail there are sunflower facts posted on signs, swings, and photo ops! The coolest thing about the pricing is if you find a stem with multiple sunflowers, you only pay for one stem! Then they wrap your flowers for you when you’re done!
This place really deserves 10 stars! I’m looking forward to going back next year and staying longer. I highly recommend The Fields at Sunflower Trail for a sweet...
