Read before you go! This is not where the wildflowers are, that is at Memaloose Hills in Mosier OR. Some of the photos on the reviews here are NOT from this place. We mixed things up and wow we had a day. The road into this place is awful. This hike was honestly terrible. With the fires that happened there are so many trees down often on top of the trail and navigating around all of the fallen trees was not fun. We were rewarded at the top with a beautiful lake with salamander friends but that’s about it. No real views, not much wildlife, burnt trees, lots of sticks and logs to navigate, and no wildflowers. Read moreMemaloose Trail is mostly uphill from the small parking area to the lake, you will need to climb over a few logs and cross several small streams along the way. The lake itself is very small and doesn't have much accessible shore due to marsh and thick mud. You will likely see salamanders and small fish in the lake as the water is very clear.
