Factory of Fear in 2022 was an excellent experience. If you haven’t been here in a few years I highly recommend to give this haunt another shot. I’d love to tell all my friends about it, but since I have none I have to write a review instead.
The waiting area is indoors and has a good vibe, I went on likely the busiest night of the year and the wait didn’t seem too long. The music and lights weren’t too loud for conversation or unbearably strobe-like. A few actors were out in the line entertaining to set the mood.
Inside, the place feels so much larger and longer than in years past. In a lot of places you can’t see at all and have to feel your way around in order to get out, and there are plenty of actors waiting in the dark. The set design is well thought out and blends the actors in as well. I’m not one to get scared easily, but someone gave me a good jump scare with such perfect makeup and stillness I thought she was a prop. When the actors didn’t get an immediate scared response from me, not once was there an awkward stare down as I have had in other haunts, but they switched to entertainment and made jokes. You have no idea how much I appreciated the skill to go beyond rehearsed lines.
My only issue, that nearly every haunt has, is that awful migraine tunnel. I’m sure a lot love it, but Ill shut my eyes and curse the whole place for the entire ten steps to get out of it. Overall the rooms looked great and very memorable animatronics. I loved the floor layout and smoke machine/laser usage. The actors were doing their very best that night. I'll...
Read moreWe came 2+ hours to Factory of Fear. We thought it was cool at first, we bought the fast passes, everything was chill. Then it was time to go through the haunt. I am a Haunted House Lover and was so excited the first couple of jumps I got. Then we caught up to the group in front of us. We stood back waiting for them to go through, only to walk into the next room with an actor still scaring the group in front of us, so we didn't even get to enjoy the scare tactics. Then not to mention that when walking through one of the areas, there was absolutely no sign or anything letting us know where to go, so we went through a curtain, only to get yelled at by one of your actors for going the wrong way and not even telling us where to go. We had never been there. At that point I was ready to go because he had no reason to be as disrespectful as he was. But I gave it the benefit of the doubt that you were busy and it's hard to have staff be nice to your customers. But that was very unprofessional on his part. $80 later and we left disappointed and upset. Definitely thought with having Illinois #1 rating for a haunted house it would be better. We were not asked to leave, were not even spoken too, we just came to have fun, and this was genuinely not a good experience. I had fun on the trip up to Illinois, but not the haunt experience itself. And trying to say anything to your staff is near impossible. Thanks for the...
Read moreSuch an amazing haunted house! I have been to more than a dozen haunted houses, and this one is definitely one of my top favorites. The rooms are very detailed and well thought out, which I really appreciate (it gives a fantastic and creepy aesthetic). The actors doing an amazing job of sticking to their character, and there is such a wide range of personalities throughout the haunt. There were lots of creative aspects to their scares and the scenes that I really appreciated. Factory of Fear really sets itself apart from other haunted attractions. And even though it is inside, it is still a decently long haunt and well worth the money. Even when you are waiting in line, the atmosphere inside and outside the building is excellent. My favorite part that heightened my senses like nothing I have ever really experienced was the pitch-black area. It felt like I had suddenly gone blind and was forcing me to use my other senses because you could see nothing. Definitely worth the trip and wait for this haunted house if you are debating about going. (and it is a decent temperature inside even if it is cold outside, so you don't need a ton of layers when...
