An impressive place to visit. The museum is filled with historical information and artifacts and well laid out to cover the different eras.

I appreciate the inclusion of the African American presence in the exhibits. There's a section dedicated to Maude Callen a nurse and midwife that provided much needed medical care to the area residents.

The museum also had information on the Black Dragoons a military unit of Black soldiers from South Carolina that fought with the British. There's also a section to recognize Felix Ferguson a local soldier who served during World War One.

This is must see if you are in the area. My family and I enjoyed it and left educated on the significant contributions of South...

Well kept museum located at Santee Canal park. Multiple exhibits regarding Berkeley County and SC history. Everything from fossils to medicine and colonial living. Staff is helpful and willing to answer any questions you might have. Across from the museum is the visitor center which includes more historical items and a small collection of livong creatures that reside...

Great nature trails and a very interesting little museum. It was a state park but in 1999 it was about to be closed because of budget cuts. The Santee Cooper company took over running the park. You can rent canoes and paddle through the beautiful creek area.
