A beautiful serene place, but was saddened by the trash (bags of garbage and broken beer bottles) of recent partygoers in numerous parts of the lake. Broken beer bottles which is dangerous to wildlife, pets, and people were strewn throughout. Someone spray painted "Please pick-up your trash" on trees. It is a shame that someone had to do so to remind others to respect nature. I was there about a month ago (June '19) and did not see that level of debris around. ENJOY the area, but PLEASE have the decency to CLEAN UP after yourselves when you're done so others can enjoy it, too. ☆☆Do not attempt to go here for a few days after a rain unless you have a Jeep or large SUV as there is a good chance you'll get struck. ☆☆

the photos posted here are MOST ALL NOT of the blue hole.. they are of an old PRIVATE sand quarry about 2 miles east on piney hollow rd .... the ACTUAL blue hole is best accessed by a sand road opposite the PH blueberry farms just west of the archery course.. take that sand road about 1 mile in.. and at a bend left.. the trail to the blue hole is right and best walked from the vehiclefrom here ... some of the folks complaining are issued tickets BECAUSE THEY ARE TRESPASSING.. NOT AT THE BLUE HOLE AT ALL !! the blue hole is a public wilderness area.. it is open all the hours of the winslow wildlife management area.. no one gets tickets for access unless they're after hours, swimming.. or at the COMPLETELY WRONG LOCATION..

Great place to have a picnic, hike, skip rocks with the kids, etc. As far as I know swimming is prohibited, due to how dangerous this pretty water hole is. No idea what happened here before, but I wouldn’t put my kids at risk, so no swimming for us. We enjoy a nice trial, and this is one of the best around us by far. I only give it 3 stars because of how beautiful and inviting the water looks but sadly can’t get in it 🤷‍♀️

DO NOT GO Absolutely beautiful BUT YOU WILL GET A TICKET FOR ENTERING. We went because we heard about it on social media, and it was recommended to us after Atsion Lake turned us away for being full. No other public lakes in the area but we had driven from so far away!

Tons of people were at blue hole, and the gate was open! At the end of the day, the police came and said the gate was broken open, said that blue hole is a “conservation area” not for swimming or visiting, and every single person there got a trespassing ticket. He said people drown in the lake and it’s dangerous. If it is not for the public, why is there a parking lot? If the public likes it, why not hire lifeguards to make sure people don’t drown? Why not establish a swimming area? What wildlife is being conserved there? There was practically no life in the lake and can’t find anything on it. There was one no trespassing sign that is not very visible, and we didn’t notice it while driving in with the line of cars we followed. Would have not entered if we knew. But honestly, NJ needs to do a better job at managing its spaces and providing recreational free areas for...
