FreshDirect — Attraction in Monroe Township

I love Fresh Direct and have been using them for years. I have only two complaints: they could make it five stars by adding more delivery routes and continuing to fix their app. The app has gotten better recently, but it still often difficult to figure out how much of something I am buying for certain items (though I never know that until they show up), and it often lags and freezes. Sometimes I add things to my cart but then they are not there when I check out. I also cannot even estimate how much of my business they have lost over the years because delivery slots were full. You have to reserve your spot well in advance of when you want a delivery, and then you still have to place your order 3 hours before the usual cut off or you lose your reservation. Fresh Direct's quality and efficiency has plummeted in recent years.

Bananas arrive completely green, mango chunks are cut woody, tough and unripe, and the pick and pack system at their Bronx plant matches the wrong cheeses to your selection. So you get plain feta instead of chile-flecked raclette, something any human being would have spotted, but the robots all missed.

Just to add insult to injury, they've recently started offering sushi rolls and poke from Hissho, an absolutely awful third-party provider that specializes in dry, tasteless rice and weird-tasting fillings. I have been ordering my weekly food shopping from Fresh Direct since 2013 and have been a very satisfied customer through and through. Any time I needed to contact customer service, I was always helped by a professional and friendly representative. The delivery team has always been prompt and friendly. The text messages with status alerts are very helpful. And, of course, I am fully satisfied with the quality and variety of products Fresh Direct offers.
