Perfect length for a quick morning or afternoon hike. About 1 mile out, 1 back. First half mild incline or flat, second half incline. Total raise about 400 feet if I remember correctly. Trail well marked, mostly dark blue, look out for the light blue right turn on the return trail. Otherwise follow the dark blue trail markers.
I'm in moderate shape, I'd wear hiking or combat boots with high ankle support if you've got them. The trail is uneven most of the time it's walking on the edge of rocks or around rocks or otherwise on rocks, you'll appreciate the added balance and grip.
Nice view, and very surprising, since I've lived in the area since the late 80s and never knew this existed. Despite hiking poles steeple, Appalachian trail, micheux st forrest, pinchot, cadoras, etc. Thought I knew the area like the back of my hand.
So I clearly they must installed it post pandemic.

Read moreFirst you should know, we are very novice hikers. Parking lot was good and pretty easy to spot from the road but can only fit 8-10 cars. The path was pretty easy to follow and never feared getting lost. Definitely a very rocky trail that will test your coordination and foot placement. In some areas I needed to use my hands to help climb up or down a rock. Not a major deterrent, but something to be aware of. I would think it could be quite slick in some spots if wet. Main view was about 30 mins in and took us about another 30 mins to reach AT. Tree canopy was pretty high and kept us well shaded. Saw squirrels and chipmunks, and a few birds. Lots of unique rock formations. I'd do it again. It as a nice workout. I think my 8 year old could handle it, but I think I'd have to help my younger kids...
Read moreFirst off, the parking lot fills up quickly. You aren't allowed to park on the side of the road. If you wait, maybe 10 minutes someone might move. That's what I did.
I thought the trail was a bit rough at times. Especially at the multiple rock paths. But not really, I guess. Small children and dogs were doing this trail.
Not much of a veiw during the summer with all the trees. On the plus side, there was plenty of shade and a great breeze.
I guess you follow this trail until you hit the Appalachian Trail at the old marker. Right before that, the markings turn white.
It's easy to get distracted by other hikers and go off trail. So pay attention to the blue markings on the trees and rocks.
I also had full service on my phone the entire time. Good for a...
