Brutally honest here - this was not a good experience. I was left with an overall gross feeling that if you're traveling solo, you know to pay attention to that. I booked a campsite for 2 for 2 nights, and a soaking pass for 2. Everything was non-refundable, and all sales were final. It was around $175 (2024). I had anticipated also bringing my dog, since the site indicated it was dog friendly. But as soon as I'd paid, I got a waiver I had to sign saying that dogs are an additional $50/dog per night. I wasn't about to spend an additional $100, so I made other arrangements for my dog. The campground is...a yard-sized patchy bit of grass surrounded by dead cottonwoods. The trailer area is on a heavy slant. The pictures show the area. The bathrooms are sketchy. The toilet stalls walls are from a high school bathroom, graffiti and all. There aren't stall doors, just curtains. The shower area is communal and some of the shower pipes don't even have heads on them. The bathroom mirror....if it passed the 2 way test, it was just barely. Getting to the hot springs is a bit of a weird situation because there aren't signs, and there isn't an attendant anywhere in the springs area to direct you. You just have to wander around and go up and down trails until you guess right. (It's a straight shot up the hill; ignore the side trails that look equally promising). About 20 minutes before my groups' soak time was done, a mid-50s man with no identification on him started walking around the bathtub areas with his phone asking us our names. I presume he was making sure we were there during the right time block, but an unidentified man walking around an area where women and kids are in swimming suits is gross. After that, we decided to leave early. We bailed on our "campsite" and went into town to get a hotel for the night. The tubs? Yes, they're nice. Nice water, decent view, etc. The rest of the...
Read moreThis is a camp site with a hot springs. The bad reviews I’ve read seem to complain because they didn’t realize what it was. It’s family owned and ran. If you’ve ever camped before, add a hot spring and hippie feel—that’s what you’re getting here. They have hippie buses, RV/van sites, the cabin and tent sites.
We stayed in the grow cabin which is so darn cute and has a homey feel. We brought firewood and roasted sausages and s’mores in the evening after our soak time.
There’s a nice little community area with an outdoor kitchen and some helpful freebies. (Pictured.) The bath house is right behind the community area and there’s even an outdoor shower area which I’ve only seen rarely at places.
Everything was clean, well kept and well used. I don’t mind the older stuff if it’s clean and it adds to the inviting homey feel. They were kind enough to leave us 4 towels in the cabin which was great bc we forgot towels. (We didn’t ask—they come with the rental.) each bed also had a heated blanket which was plugged in and ready to go. I use one at home and enjoyed this very much.
The orange around the tubs and everywhere in the springs is from the mineral water but I saw complaints on that too.
Will recommend and stay again. Had...
Read moreWe drove to Mystic Hot Springs while vacationing in Capitol Reef National Park (from Denver) unaware that we needed reservations (our own fault). When we got there we saw the sign that said reservations only. We called them and told them we were out front of the gate and asked them if they had any room for us to just briefly experience the place. There were no other cars or anyone in sight on a Tuesday morning. The guy who answered the phone seemed so disinterested in our call and unwilling to help. Told us we needed to go online to make a reservation. So we did just to find out we were unable to book for the same day. I totally understand that it was my mistake for not realizing we needed reservations. But I cannot understand why the guy on the phone couldn't have just said sorry they don't do same day reservations or that they're full? He couldn't even take the time to see if they had any room before sending us online. Talk about not lifting a finger! After that experience I believe the reviews that say the place is grungy, dirty, and unkept and have lost interest. The front of the place didn't look too appealing or well kept either. We went to the free red hot springs up the road which had nice pools...
