Got there after long drive in the rain and mountain curves and grades, exhausted, and no one in office. Someone comes up on golf cart, no hello or welcome, just do you have a reservation. Gave them our name and the one guy says follow this other guy on another golf cart. We followed and once we parked, the first guy came over and asked for the fee. No receipt, which when we pay cash I like to keep receipts. Then he proceeds to tell my husband that our car on the trailer was bouncing all over the place. My husband advised that we have 3 trucker straps on the car and it's very tight and the car isn't going anywhere. And the other guy was still there and said twice that our ten pound dog needs to be on a leash. That was it and they rode off. So they say paved roads....with pot holes all over, no wonder the car was bouncing. No mats on the ground, so dirty muddy shoes in the rig. And the only nice grass was on the outskirts of the campground. The buildings were locked up and dark so if we wanted to use the game room you couldn't. And.....the power went off in the middle of the night. We have a chest freezer full of food so we pay to use the campground power. We woke up at 5am and realized no power, about 6am we couldn't get back to sleep, and someone had turned on their generator, so we turned ours on. Then when some campers started to rise about 7am, someone had something to say about someone turning on their generator in the middle of the night, and advised that they don't use generators in this campground. That was it!! We got ready, unhooked and left. No one came around to say anything, like we are sorry about no power and any inconvenience it might have caused. And it looked like 50+ percent full timers there. Grass needed to be cut, road needs resurfacing, hosts need to be seen, be more informative and show some damn hospitality! We...
Read moreA great place to go for a walk with your dogs. Just please, and I can't stress this enough, PLEASE keep your dogs on leashes!! My dogs are a little aggressive. Granted they are part Chihuahua and Dachshund but they can get snappy, so if your big floppy friendly dog comes running up to mine, chances are it's not going to go very well! I also have a large malamute akita mix who will jump in if he sees his brothers getting 'attacked'. In summary , the scenery is beautiful and the paths are fun, as long as everyone is courteous and respectful. Sometimes it can be crowded and those types of people will be hanging out. Most of the time it's pretty positive though. Also be careful when straying off the main paths. The tall grass can be full of ticks. 4 years ago one of my little ones ended up with 12 ticks on her after a walk through one of the dirt paths. Also please don't feed the ducks and geese bread! Look up online for a list of safe things for wild ducks and geese to eat...
Read moreWe really like going to this park and taking the kids there to walk the trails, ride bikes and have lunch. Would like to take the kids to learn how to fish there, but due to the lack of upkeep; i.e. the ridiculous amount of mosquitoes, the trails not kept up, the amount of waterfowl poop all over the place, the major potholes to drive through, the poop splattered bathrooms, as well as all the trash at the river. I know the last two I mentioned are due to the certain people themselves using it and being disrespectful, careless, reckless, blatant disregard for their fellow neighbor and just plain disgusting. But something needs to be done about the mosquitoes, as in spraying or spreading the pellets to help limit the mosquito larvae. The water fowl poop should be cleaned up somehow on a regular basis. Even if we have to get community involvement together to go through the parks and help maintain and clean them, then we should all figure...
