Great Hike. Starts by going up a track, dynamited out of the cliff face, and following the fast flowing white water river. After a powerful 10 foot waterfall the path then departs from the river climbs to a great view of the lake. A small side path (on the left as you come to the highest point) takes you to a wonderful 270 panaramic view. We continued down the other side where, on the right, a distant waterfall flows down an adjacent cliff face. We didnt quite make it to the lake as a black bear was very close to the path, and my wife, who has much more sense than me, suggested declaring victory...

Visual feast of a hike. Wow this is a great trail along the Stillwater river as it passes through the gorge. The amount of water flowing by is amazing and deafening. If you have a dog make sure to keep them on a leash, you are right on the edge of a violent river. Pro tip: When you meet the Gorge Bypass Trail walk up it about 75 feet to get a great view and possible picnic spot overlooking the area. You can take this well maintained trail back and it will empty out at the far end of the...

Excellent trail with gradually elevation gain..the creek was beautiful running fast and high water. Dry trail. Snowed at the beginning and end of the hike but no accumulation. Sun was out for good part of the day. Clouds rolled in late. Tje views are beautiful. But trail heavily used late spring snd summer. We only saw a few people and horse riders who were clearing trail. And the trail has a fork that leads to Mystic lake . The fork is well past the lake. At the fork its 5 miles to...

Update 8-7-2023: The road is open to the campground which is open. You have to walk into the trailhead. The trail through the canyon is gone, but the bypass horse trail is open. 2022: The road to Sioux Charlie Lake and Woodbine Campground is still closed at the mine just past Nye. Local rumors have it that this year's massive flooding completely took out Sioux Charlie Lake. Hopefully, the road will be fixed next year, and we can all check it out.

Sioux Charley Lake Trailhead is an amazing trail. The entire trail follows the river (or mostly). A decent amount of brush to muck through and would advise long pants. Lots of snakes on this trail, saw at least eight. The first mile is probably the most photogenic till mile 7+ when you join the river and surrounding second lake.
