My friends and I blindly took on this trail unprepared with nothing but a plastic water bottle and a little bit of optimism. Had I known what I was getting myself into, I likely would’ve shut it down immediately. However, it is absolutely worth the visit. You don’t need to go all the way to the top of the falls to see some beautiful scenery, but it is worth it if you do!! We explored around before heading straight to the trail and also took several breaks along the way so it took us around 6 hours total but 3 hours for just the hike itself. The waterfall isn’t super strong right now, but still gorgeous. The view out from the top is breathtaking. Literally. This hike is definitely challenging and required me to step out of my comfort zone (lots of rock scrambling + an area that requires a short rope climb) but I do not regret it. Be prepared. Wear the right shoes (that you don’t mind getting wet) Wear the right clothes. It’s easier if you travel very lightly. Bring water. Go with the right people and don’t be afraid to ask for help....

Very challenging hike. Not for the faint of heart. You will go through a rope climb area, boulder scrambling, and constant elevation gain. Do not recommend going alone. Have a partner(s) to help you along the way. Expect to get wet. IF you manage to make it, you will encounter one of the most spectacular waterfalls in all southern California, in my opinion. Please be careful. Know your limitations. Turn back if you must, for safety concerns. No waterfall is worth you...

So amazing once you reach the waterfall!!! There isn't a trail that leads to the bottom so you have to go directly up the river rocks. It's definitely a difficult hike with some rock climbing involved but well worth it!!!! Highly recommend visiting, I was told after a rain storm it's a more full waterfall. We went in December and it was still...

Would You Dare Conquer This Hidden Gem? Welcome to Day 23 of my California Trail Guide series—your go-to for secret hikes, breathtaking views, and detailed trail tips! Missed a day? Catch up on my feed! For the adventure seekers out there, today’s guide is one of the most challenging and rewarding waterfall hikes you’ll find. Elusive, beautiful, and adrenaline-packed, here’s your ultimate guide to Tangerine Falls via the West Fork Cold Springs Trail: 🌟 Trail Guide 🥾 Trail: Tangerine Falls via West Fork Cold Springs Trail 🅿️ Parking: Free, park on the south side of E Mountain Dr 📅 Best Time to Visit: After rains 📏 Difficulty: Hard, 3.2 miles (rock scrambling required) 🏔️ Elevation Gain: 1,050 ft 👧👦 Family-Friendly: No—dangerous ♿ Accessibility: Not suitable 🦮 Dog-Friendly: Yes, on-leash, however for gods sake don’t take them up to the top near the waterfall. 🕶️ Shade: Mixed ⚠️ Warnings: Beware of ticks & poison oak 💡 Insider Tips 1. Allocate at least 2 hours for this adventure. 2. Pro Tip: At about ¾ of a mile, take a right into the creek—this is your path forward. 3. Upon reaching the first waterfall, climb up on the left side, then look for a rope on the right. It’s manageable but requires care! 4. The last ½ mile is a beast: fallen trees, steep climbs, and tricky navigation. You won’t hear or see the falls until the last moment, but once you do… WOW! 🤩 🔗 Why It’s Worth It Tangerine Falls is a natural wonder, and the journey to reach it is as exhilarating as the destination itself. Remember to pack water, sturdy shoes, and your adventurous spirit! 🗑️ Reminder: Leave no trace. Let’s keep nature pristine for future explorers! 👉 New here?
