I waited too long to visit Dumont Lake Park. I guess in my head I expected it to be a crowded, small-town park but this was a very spacious area that mirrored a state park. This is a hot-spot for family reunions and boaters, so if you visit you might want to visit before 1 p.m., and if you have a group make sure you come early to "reserve" a space. Despite our visits during busy Saturdays during the summer months, we found great spots to hang low and everyone around us seemed very friendly. A visit here to go swimming beats the crowded Lake Michigan any day (although not as much sand). I also don't like being out in the sun all day, so I loved that this park had a lot of shaded areas...
Read moreThis is a nice little family spot lake with a big feel to it. Always seems to be a pretty friendly crowd there. Lots of picking tables and lots of grills and even got a big giant pavilion with 10 or so tables under that. I heard once you could rent the pavilion and use all the tables under it but I don't see why anyone would do that. If there was one thing to complain about, and I'm not complaining, do my suppers from the same thing every other lake Beach does. All that duck goose and swan s* that winds up...
Read moreBeen coming here since I was a kid. They have made improvements, a reserve-able pavilion, playground, and flush potties. There is a sand area for playing that isn't actually connected to the beach. The beach itself still has a steep drop off right to the right side. There is a small ledge between the grassy area and the beach, with the beach itself being a mixture of sand and small gravel. Would get 5 stars if they'd mark the drop off and add some sand.
