Calla Lily Valley is an absolute hidden gem and a must-visit for nature lovers! Nestled along the California coast, this stunning valley bursts into bloom each spring, creating a breathtaking landscape of pure white calla lilies set against the backdrop of rolling green hills and the deep blue ocean.

The hike to the valley is short and scenic, following a peaceful trail along a small creek that winds through the flowers. The moment you arrive, you're surrounded by thousands of delicate lilies, swaying gently in the breeze—it's like stepping into a fairytale. The sound of the nearby waves crashing against the shore adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it an incredible spot to relax and take in the beauty of nature.

For the best experience, visit in March or early April when the flowers are in full bloom. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes since the trail can get muddy, and bring a camera—you'll want to capture every moment of this breathtaking scene! Whether you're a photographer, a hiker, or just someone who loves exploring beautiful places, Calla Lily Valley is an unforgettable experience. Highly...

Come here between February and April and you'll find this stunning valley of calla lilies! I'm a Big Sur wedding and elopement photographer and I always recommend that couples come here if they happen to be visiting during those months. There's not a ton of parking at the trail entrance (only on one side of the highway) so if there's no space, you can always park at the next turnout which has plenty of parking. From there, you can follow the coastal trail to Calla Lily Valley. If you're planning on getting to the beach, just note that sometimes you have to climb over rocks or step over the river to get to the beach, particularly if it has rained a lot lately. It can also get really muddy here, and there is some poison oak on the coastal trail. But definitely worth the trek if you come during blooming season! During the spring, there are also wildflowers that bloom all...

Beautiful outlet going to the ocean that blooms with calla lilies every Spring. Everything about the location - hills, the ocean, flowering meadows and, of course, the calla lilies - is picturesque. People get married down by the beach often, I’m told. I happened upon a group coming up from a wedding just as I arrived.

I highly recommend going early in the day - if you are an early bird I think sunrise here with some coffee would be divine. What you don’t want is to be stuck in traffic both ways in and out of the Carmel Highlands, and on the freeway in and out of Monterey. Earlier would mean you could drive more slowly, find parking more easily (it can be really difficult later in the day and pulling in/out right on the road can be stressful), and have some space to enjoy the scenery before people and their families come - it was packed around 4pm on a...

A must see CA wildflower spot ⬇️ The state parks that are near and south of Carmel are some of the nations best: from Point Lobos to Garrapata State Park. Point Lobos can get full and Soberanes Point often attracts a crowd, but if you are willing to drive a little further south, you’re in for a wildflower treat! Remember: when exploring, always leave no trace, which means (1) always stay on trails (2) Don’t pick the flowers and (3) if you see someone off trail or picking flowers, kindly say something (often times people aren’t aware of their impact).     Your guide to explore here: 🥾 Trail: Garrapata Beach & Calla Lily Valley 🅿️ Fee: Free parking on HWY 1. Pull in North of the beach/valley. Do not walk on HWY 1. 📅 Best times to visit: Mid-Feb to Mid-April for the blooms 📏 Difficulty: Easy with a few short stairs. 🏔️ Elevation: Under 100ft. 👧 👦 friendly: Super kid friendly. If you go closer to the ocean, be careful crossing the rocks - they are slippery. ♿️ friendly: Not ADA accessible, Facilities 🚽: Two bathrooms near trailhead (porta-potties) 🦮 Friendly: Dogs on leash. 🎒 Gear: Binoculars for the ocean, change of shoes after visiting for the mud, and a camera! 🕶️ Shade: Fully exposed 🛂 Tips: It’s super muddy, but if you’re willing to get your feet fully submerged, there’s a trail you won’t touch any of the flowers and takes you back in the valley. There’s a water tunnel that gives you a great photo op without the crowds. No cell phone service here so pre-download your maps before coming. 🙏: Follow @outdoorwiseliving for more CA gems. #callalily #callalilies #callalilyvalley #carmel #carmelbythesea #southbay #southbayarea #wildflower #wildflowers #wildflowerhike #bayareahiking #californiahiking #explorecalifornia #visitcalifornia #californiaadventure #carmelvalley #castateparks #garrapatastatepark #californiastateparks #californiabucketlist #hikemore #hikingblog #hikingblogger #bayareamoms #bayareablogger #bayarea #sfbay #centralcoast
