Safety first. That’s my number one priority when it comes to playgrounds. And while I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, and playgrounds then were metal monstrosities that threatened second degree burns in hot weather, that’s not the safety I am talking about. While there are unsavory people everywhere of all financial classes, it isn’t unfair to take into account homelessness when rating playgrounds and parks. As a parent, prejudging someone by their appearance may be unsavory and morally questionable, let’s face it, our children come first and the ethics of our judgments take a backseat.
This location is beautiful. Completely fenced in, one side is lined with the woodsy, natural foliage of Monterey. The other side edges a beautiful, well kept, suburban community, which also happens to be positioned on government owned land. The only stinky creature you might find sleeping under the slide is a skunk.
The playground has all the contraptions your kids have come to love; everything your average playground has and then some. It’s suitable for both babies, toddlers, and older children.
Important notes: there are no restrooms. The playgrounds sits on wood mulch. And there is no shaded areas for parents, and this part of Monterey actually pays its sun bill, so prepare with a hat, water, and sunscreen. There are...
