Once you figure out how to get here, it's the PERFECT spot to park and look at the bridge! It's a nice spot to park and eat your lunch after crossing, stop and take some pictures, or just read a book! I have seen people in the park working on paintings of the bridge!!! This is also a great place to watch freighters from if there are any passing through. It tends to be pretty windy here. If you can't deal with the wind, stay in your car and take it in. Take some pictures. You'll thank me for this. I don't think there are bathrooms here, but you're not far from gas stations or McDonald's or Burger King if you need the facilities. From my experiences, we have never had to pay to park. There is parking for regular vehicles, and there's also enough room to get in with a camper if you're traveling. We recently got married and had some of our wedding pictures taken here (by Gulotta Imagery LLC from South Haven, MI)! The Mighty Mac is a GORGEOUS backdrop. For a couple that has been coming to the U.P. for the last 4 years, it was the perfect way to tie in something so special to us. The only bad things about Bridge View Park are that there is usually a lot of goose poop...everywhere. Depending on the time of year you go, there are also these weird bugs along the shore. I haven't figured out what exactly they are yet, but they are kind of like a Mayfly. Other than that, this gem is usually not too busy. So make sure to stop here before venturing any further into the U.P., or before crossing back...

Read moreThis quaint, lovely, and uncrowded park is a decent drive going westward, before you reach the Mackinac Bridge toll plaza, and is a nice spot to rest and stretch your legs before heading back down to the lower peninsula. Instead of having a quick stop, we stayed there for quite a bit of time since we got there right before sunset, and we were not certain when we will be back here. And of course, anyone knows how spectacular views can be at sunset! From St. Ignace on the upper peninsula, Bridge View Park provides a stunning scenery of Mackinac Bridge and the straights of Mackinac that weds Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. This beautiful park is an admirable work by the Mackinac Bridge Authority. Parking is easy. There are also posters of historical images on display in the enclosed pavilion for the history buffs and the curious. It conveniently has a restroom, which is clean and well-maintained. In terms of accessibility, the park is only open during daylight hours. It is also challenging to go to once you miss the sign heading southbound on I-75 towards the bridge since there is no easy way to get here if you are...
