The March Field Air Museum is truly a hidden gem and an absolute must-see for anyone who loves aviation, military history, or just wants to experience something unique and inspiring. I've been here multiple times over the years, and every time I visit, I discover something new—this place is constantly improving and expanding its displays.

The museum is the perfect place for events since it is immaculate and well-maintained. It’s super clean inside, with a very organized layout that makes it easy to explore and enjoy the exhibits. It also serves as an excellent venue—spacious, meaningful, and full of atmosphere for any event tied to military or aviation themes.

One of the first things you'll see when you walk in is the jaw-dropping SR-71 Blackbird stealth aircraft prominently displayed—it truly sets the tone for what’s to come. The museum houses an extensive and unique collection of historical artifacts spanning from WWI and WWII all the way to modern-day conflicts. Their collection of veteran uniforms and personal memorabilia is incredibly moving and a respectful tribute to those who served.

Outside, the Vietnam War display is especially impressive, and the aircraft park is stunning—with everything from American fighter jets to rare Russian aircraft. The range and scale of planes on display is simply amazing. Also, don’t miss the artwork and portraits honoring famous and influential pilots throughout history—it adds a personal and emotional layer to the experience.

One of the coolest bonuses is that the March Air Force Base runway runs parallel to the museum, so you can often watch military aircraft take off and land right overhead. The museum sits just below their flight path, making it a thrilling, up-close experience you won’t find at most museums.

The gift shop is another highlight, offering a great selection of items for both kids and adults. Whether you're looking for model planes, books, or unique souvenirs, there's something for everyone.

The staff here go above and beyond—always welcoming, helpful, and happy to share their knowledge. And best of all, if you're military, admission is free, which is a wonderful gesture of appreciation.

Highly recommended for Air Force buffs, aviation enthusiasts, or anyone with an interest in military history. This museum is an incredible tribute to the legacy of flight and the brave men and women who made...

My wife and I attended the March Field Air Museum during the Socal Air Show on 4/23/23. Within 30 minutes of arriving at the museum, we sat down on outdoor bleachers to enjoy the air show. While we sat on the bleachers, nearby guests called my wife racial slurs and made us feel very unsafe. We left the museum immediately and quietly because we did not want to cause a scene in front of other guests with small children.

Side note, is not realistically feasible to reach the March Airfield Reserve from the March Field Air Museum on foot. After we paid for parking at the museum, we asked a pair of more seasoned gentlemen dressed in museum afillate attires for directions to reach the March Airfield. The worker said it was within walking distance and pointed us to the sidewalk. The younger museum volunteers warned us of long walk as we started to head out. We checked Google Maps for confirmation and it showed us it would take 90 minutes to cover the 3.8 miles on foot walking next to traffic.

I have called the museum and left voice mails on 3 separate occasions to share our experience. I was unable to speak to a museum customer relations representative nor did I receive any callbacks after 10 days. While the behavior of the guests is not the responsibility of the museum, the poor review is a reflection of the hostile atmosphere and lack of response.

If you have read this far and are planning for an upcoming air show, I sincerely recommend that you do not park at the museum and just head to the March Airfield Reserve Base directly for free parking. Show up early (before 9 AM) for better time parking and shorter line for entering the base. The military personnel on base was very welcoming and accommodating. The experience in the base is definetly a worthwhile trip. We wholeheartedly recommend checking out the March Air Field during the air show but avoid the museum complex that is a couple...

What's not to love? When you enter the museum, the first thing you see is an SR-71. Can't miss it because it occupies a large portion of the center of the museum/hangar. There is a portable staircase you can climb to get a view of both seats and console as well as a view of the aircraft from above. There is a winding staircase that goes to the top of the gift shop, from which you get an even better view. There are displays, recreations, and replicas, some with audio and/or video aspects, along every wall of the hangar. They are designed to give you a feel for what it was like to operate each system during its era. Take the time to stop at each one and appreciate the history they represent. You won't be sorry. When you're finished inside, head out to the flight line to view dozens of aircraft. Stand under the wings of a B-52, B-17, B-29, B-47, in front of basically any fighter from the Sabre onward, including rarities like the 104. There are tanker and transport aircraft, a recreation of a Vietnam-era bivouac, with aircraft (several varieties of helicopters) and vehicles, plus a Hercules rocket body to top things off. An added bonus was getting to watch touch-and-goes by military aircraft on the active strip (there is a small bleacher set along the fence line for that purpose), commercial aircraft, and a pair of F-16s taking off. It was like a mini-airshow....
