My brother and I took a nice trip. Walked trails to get to The Overlook, wondering if we overlooked the overlook. Then there it was.. almost heaven the signs read. As we were scootin’ through the forest checking out the local mushrooms, we finally got on the path that lead to Cooper’s Rock… While we marveled over the hills and river at the sight, a rain come crawling in. We were hoping for at least a sprinkle. Went as quick as it come. It was awesome to see from that perspective how a huge mass of life gets its water. I can’t explain the beauty.. the rest is for my brother and I to have. I can go on. The rock formations were fun to traverse. One thing tho, people dump a lot of trash in the rock hidey-holes. Read moreCooper's Rock State Forest is a natural gem of West Virginia, with stunning trails and breathtaking scenery. The forest offers a variety of trails, ranging from easy to challenging, with something for every level of hiker. The main overlook is a spectacular sight, with panoramic views of the forest and surrounding landscape, although the bridge to the main overlook is currently out of service. However, the secondary overlook is just as stunning, and provides a great vantage point to take in the natural beauty of the area. Along the trails, you'll encounter interesting rock formations and a variety of flora and fauna, making for an exciting and educational hike. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Cooper's Rock State Forest for a memorable and enjoyable...
Read moreBeautiful view with several hiking trails. There was even a handicap trail back to the view. Hold onto your little ones, though! The fence surrounding the edge of the lookout is sturdy but is only a couple of wooden boards across to posts. The boulder/rock where the lookout is located is of natural formation, and I think it would be difficult for wheelchairs or disabled. The gift shop, a cabin, was equally charming. Take your time on the road back - it's very narrow, and there are a couple of very large potholes that need to be addressed terribly. Parking is somewhat limited, but there were guests constantly coming and going, so it didn't take long to...
