Not a great venue for weddings! Phillip, the manager, was not very pleasant because we was 30 minutes late leaving. He informed me heβd be keeping our security deposit. I said not a problem and I understood. He then looked out and saw the βmessβ and said I canβt βfβingβ believe this. I stayed calm and offered to clean up whatever he wanted even though we paid a cleaning fee. He then came outside and went off over a broken bottle. At this point I started giving it back. My recommendation is they change their contract not allowing alcohol at all or at least no glass bottles. Scarecrows was placed in direct view of ceremony - we asked only 2 be moved. This was thrown up in my face - sorry we didnβt pay $3,000+ for photographer and videographer to have scarecrows in them. On another note, there is absolutely no lighting to the parking areas. My recommendation would be to have events end and guest leave before dark. The father of the bride actually ran into a tree limb and hurt his ear badly because his cell phone died and he had no flashlight. We had to sweep both deck areas prior to setting up and the lawn was very high. We asked and they did mow, but this was after tent was up and tables laying under tent. While we made the venue look absolutely stunning, I feel the WVBG is not a good place for weddings, especially those serving alcohol or those with handicap/elderly guests. Phillip, I cuss, but know when not to! You dropping the F bomb was very...
Β Β Β Read moreGreat hiking experience for nearly any fitness level! We visited right as plants began to bloom so we didn't get to see the prime beauty, but after this experience, we will definitely be back later this summer to enjoy the gardens in their full glory! There were multiple trail options depending on the distance you want to hike and level of difficulty you want to experience. We went for a casual stroll that day, and it took us roughly 1.5hrs to see about 80% of the trails. The overlook trail definitely broke a little sweat in all four of us, but very doable. To be fair, it was a last-minute decision, so we were unbelievably unprepared (no water, snacks, or appropriate footwear - my husband and I are in our 30s and we went with his parents). We saw a couple of families out with their little ones having a fun time. Great for all ages and groups. The fairly garden is a must see, especially if you have children. Being able to add to the fairy garden in your own creative way is a cool little extra they have on the trails. They also offer various workshops and activities throughout the summer. I attached a picture of the sign with the upcoming dates/events. Can't...
Β Β Β Read moreThis botanic garden is almost a hidden gem β I have not seen it crowded here! Its just a quick drive from Morgantown but you wouldnβt know once you are here. Beautifully situated along a wildlife area. This is a very natural looking botanic garden; they did a great job highlighting the local vegetation and terrain. Itβs a nice layout with quite a few little trails and sections to try out. Some cool things for kids to explore as well such as the Fairy Garden. Cute little obstacles, connections, and bridges make it all the more exciting! The boardwalk was especially fun for my kiddo! Trees provide lots of shade even in the summer so itβs a great place to visit all year round. There are signs throughout the garden that discuss historical aspects and their significance to the area - so lots of opportunities to learn! Looks like a pretty neat event space as well. Looking forward to seeing the planned updates they highlighted in their βMaster Planβ. The plans showed some great educational sections and even an open pool. There is a "Little Free Library" at the parking lot which is...
