Should be name Tick Wildlife Refuge 😬. It’s a beautiful, unique area but there were ticks EVERYWHERE. Come prepared with tight clothing, close-toed shoes, and leave your pup at home. I’ve already picked 10+ ticks off my dogs and a couple off each human & we stayed on trail. Also, the place could use some better signage & maps. We aren’t from the area & did our best to research before we went but still weren’t able to access the rock formation...

This place was a blast! From Rattlers to coyotes, jackrabbits to marmots, there was wildlife everywhere. We drove around the refuge and stopped at all the lakes and ponds. After finding some owl pellets and dissecting them, the family climbed up a cliff and sat and threw pebbles into the water while eating a picnic lunch. What a beautiful spot to enjoy whilst...

Beautiful area, great representation of the landscape and ecology of Central Washington. A great place to learn about/experience the geology formed by the Columbia River Basalt Group and the Ice Age Floods. Meandering mesas and beautiful basalt columns dotted with pothole lakes formed by cataclysmic events in the not-so-distant-geologically-speaking past.

I have been coming here since I was 14, but religiously every year to hike and explore for the last 5 years. I have had so many wonderful experiences here, usually always very peaceful. I have gone trash picking most recently since littering got a little worse this last year. All in all a wonderful place to explore!
