This is the Alabama Welcome Center while heading along I-10 East after entering the state from Mississippi. This welcome center is also known as the Grand Bay Welcome Center by the state. My visit here was on August 26, 2022.

After getting my niece, we started making our eastbound trek back to the east coast. Once we passed into Alabama, the welcome center was there just after entering the state. Since it was still in the morning, it wasn't too busy here at the time. As you come in, cars will go to the left while trucks will go to the right. Coming up to the parking area, there was plenty of parking available. They can accommodate lots of vehicles, so I don't see any issues with limited parking. I do want to note that overnight parking is not permitted.

Before going inside the welcome center, I remained outside to check things out there, just in case if any rain would start. They have quite a bit of outdoor space here. There are areas to walk around, as well as areas to take your pets and allow them to do their business. One of the first things I noticed outside were all of the statues of sea life. There were several statues of fish and other water animals. Also, if you didn't notice, the welcome center has fish shapes toward the top of the building. They have lots of picnic tables to use here. Some of them are covered and some of them are uncovered. It is nice to have this variety of options. They have their regular Welcome to Sweet Home Alabama sign, as well as info on keeping their waters clean. There is a Welcome to Alabama Statue by the AL Dept. of Transportation.

After exploring the outside, I took a bit of time to visit the inside of the building. The first thing to do inside was to use the restroom. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. After that, I checked other things out inside. They have a visitor center which is staffed and where you can get info about the state, including construction projects and such that could affect your travels. The visitor center portion of this welcome center is open from 8 am to 5 pm daily, but the grounds and restrooms are open at all times. Inside, you can quickly notice that the welcome center is aquatic themed. The Great Seal of Alabama can be seen above the water fountains inside too. They have a nice vending area too, so if you need to grab a snack or drink, you can get that here too.

Overall, this is a very beautiful welcome center. This has definitely been the norm for me when coming into the state from different areas. There is something for everyone here. You can get out, stretch your legs, and check out the sights of this aquatic adventure that is the Alabama Welcome Center. If your travels take you along I-10 East from Mississippi going into Alabama, you should definitely make that stop into this welcome center. You will sea the light (yes, there is a lighthouse at the top of the...

This is a beautiful truck stop in lots of parking but last year I used to come here all the time but there was one night I stayed here and I parked over there by the retaining wall concrete wall in the middle section and I was sleeping sound and peacefully when I felt something touched my back I jumped out of bed to see one on Earth that it was and there was nothing there when I was sitting at the edge of my bed I felt something touched my back again and my hair was standing straight up I dropped my phone jumped in the driver seat and proceeded to leave that spot since then I have not stayed the night at that truck stop I believe that there's something crazy going on there that's unexplainable I don't know if anyone else has ever had the same experience but sure would love to know leave your review if you ever experienced anything crazy at this place. I just don't think it's normal I've never had any trouble with this place before except for that day and ever since then I have...

There was a void in my soul before I visited this rest area. The engravings of coastal scenes were a balm to my emotional wounds, the sculptures of sea life left me finally and completely at peace. The lights in the bathroom were shaped like clouds and I felt my worries drift away on them as I dried my hands at the varied-height wall-mounted dryers. The millions of pamphlets worked together to bury my cares under a comforting mountain of words. I became briefly anxious when I saw the model of the USS Alabama because it made me think of war, but luckily there were some tile mosaics of shrimp set into the floor nearby and I immediately felt soothed. I got a bottle of water on my way out and it tasted of southern gentility and old-fashioned values. Thank you, Alabama Welcome Center, for providing me what thousands of hours of counseling could not. I feel that I can die a happy woman now and go to the Great Alabama Welcome...

All I got to say is wow I normally used to rest stops having a bathroom and I'm not sure why this is called more than a rest stop cuz that's what it said on the sign but they had material on all sorts of flyers and advertisements on things to do around that area it's save me some money because they gave me a flyer with $1 off the Alligator Alley just because I mentioned it. They have a very impressive statues of nearby creatures in that state. it was an impressive sight to see Target texture was nice the statues were nice I had a pleasant time in the staff was nice. the restrooms were very clean I had a very easy time getting on and off the freeway.

This place is quite big, plenty of parking for all types of vehicles. It is very clean and well kept. The tourist information/welcome centre and shop were closed as it was after 5pm but toilets are accessible. They have a designated place to walk your dog and stretch the legs after a long car ride and places to have a picnic in the shade, with seating. There's also some interesting signs, statues and monuments. A good place to stop and take a break. Toilets were clean and tidy with the facilities you would expect. There is drinking water fountains too. Well done Alabama!!
