Went for a wedding. They claim not to be a hotel, more of a campground with cabins and shared house. We stayed in the Gibbs house. Ten bedrooms, a sm kitchen, lg living room, and a makeshift dinning room. The wedding and reception areas are nice, the view is amazing. However this so called "campground" has more rules than Massachusetts has gun laws. You must make your own bed, that's right, put your own sheets and pillow cases on the bed if you want them. No drinking here there or anywhere No smoking here there or anywhere The bed is old, the mattresses are garbage. A book of rules of things you can not do. But nothing online or pre-warning of ALL these rules. Booked the room online, instead of a deposit like they said they took the full cost out the night we booked. Then took 3 or 4 days to refund. Drove in 5 hours of traffic arriving at five to see the office was already closed and everyone went home. All in all a garbage weekend. The only reason for the second star is the view of the lake and mountains. Oh breakfast is a joke as well. Sign on the door 1st in line, leave enough for last in line Last in line leave enough for 1st to have seconds.... WTF? Scrambled Eggs with a pound of pepper Cheapest Bacon you can buy Over cooked hard boiled eggs A toaster that takes ten minutes to toast Apple juice that was 90% water Orange juice that was as thick as the yogurt. Luckily the wedding guest had enough alcohol to help you forget you just paid all that money to "camp" in a shared house with zero...

Even though we were a small group, Christy treated us like VIPs and made sure we had everything we needed. The very large property is on a peninsula on Lake Winnipesauki so it’s absolutely gorgeous, remote and calm.
We happened to be there during acoustic week so we got to listen to some master musicians and join their barn dance.
I’d highly recommend it if you: -Have a family or group with different interests as there’s plenty of room to both come together but also do your own thing -Love the outdoors and seek quiet on an otherwise busy lake -Are nostalgic about camp or get jealous when you drop your kids off
Might not be your spot if: -You prefer fancy accommodations, this place has a very rich history and while it is very comfortable it’s not new -You are looking for a happening ‘scene’
They have a dining hall, boats, disc golf, lifeguards, trails and many more games so there’s really no need to leave the property.

Read moreI went to “Camp Winni” as a child and teenager, as a Lutheran Bible study family vacation every year from about 1960 until 1974. I loved it there. The old church, the large main building, the beach, and even the little ice cream window look the same as I remember from the pictures. I do want to go back someday, but I live in Georgia now, and it would be quite a long drive. It’s truly a place where one feels God, at least it was for me. I wonder if on getaway day if bacon and donuts are still served for breakfast in the...
