The "Barn" — Attraction in Moundsville

$150 (plus $250 safety deposit) made this the most affordable place for our event. I think we were told it can hold up to 200 guests but that would be a tight fit. It has a beautiful porch where guests can also sit. It is very rustic, so before you book you should tour the barn first to understand what that means - the barn has an aged look, the bathrooms are a little rough. There isn't AC that I could tell, but there are 2 large heaters hanging in 2 of the corners. There is a full kitchen with large gas ovens and 2 refrigerators, multiple sinks. It has two small bathrooms. They provide 6ft white plastic tables and metal chairs, some have cushions and some don't. There is a pair of huge barn doors that you can open for fresh air and sunlight. We rented the barn for a reasonable rate for an anniversary/retirement party. It held our group of under 100 with space for catering tables and 5 person band comfortably.

Decorating with a rustic farm theme is an obvious choice for the Barn and it turned out great. I liked that string lights were already set up and that we could open the barn doors for easy access to bring equipment / catering in. It was pretty warm for October when we had our event, so we ended up leaving the doors open for the whole afternoon. The temperature inside was perfect.

The parking lot is large and newly resurfaced - it looks great. It is on two levels with either stairs or a hill to walk up. Note that you may want to set aside some extra parking on the upper level of the parking lot of elderly or disabled guests as the lower parking might be too far for...

This venue can be charming, however it has some issues. If you are planning a wedding or event here I must recommend that you do your due diligence and walk the property. The inside of this building is quite pretty! However, the outside is a little rough around the edges. Flaking paint, dirty gutters, and an old discarded tire grace this establishments exterior. Along with this, i felt as if the landscaping could be improved as well, but I digress. Sometimes It's the finite details that make or break a locations appeal, especially a location marketed as a wedding destination. That being said, i believe that it wouldn't take much for this locations exterior to be spruced up! The location itself is pretty and has a rustic charm to it! My recommendation is that you stop and check it out for yourself to decide.
