So this trail wasn't enjoyable partly for geology and partly due to mother nature and partly due to my own body. I'm only in average shape and this was more of a workout than I bargained for (not the trail's fault). We also went during 90-degree heat (partially not the trail's fault). But, some of the worst, steepest, rocky, via-ferrata portions of this trail are in complete sun, no shade (the trail's fault). So keep that in mind. Give yourself more time than you normally need to travel this trail. I also thought the views just barely made the hardships worth the effort. They were pretty great, but not breathtaking. The part of the trail that looks like it goes down to the water's edge really leads you to a cliff overlooking the water, so no need to bring your bathing suit nor get your hopes up for a refreshing swim. GO CLOCKWISE and climb Acadia Mountain first. You do NOT want to do the uphill counterclockwise. Also, the final clockwise leg of the hike is flat and such a...

Reading other people’s reviews on this I’m surprised some found this trail challenging. I imagine hiking anything in 90+ degrees will be challenging. My husband and I got to the top in very short time, with little effort. We saw small children and dogs at the top who had no issue with the hike. There was a rather large, unfit woman who was struggling a bit, but made it to the top, too. We saw all ages, from about 6 years old to some well into their 70s doing the trail. Beautiful views, highly recommended, and you don’t need to be particularly fit or well-versed in hiking...

So glad we picked this trail over some of the others. The view from the top is phenomenal and it was a fun challenge to get down the other side. We went clockwise which turned out to be the right choice for us, but may not be for everyone. Our dog is experienced with rock/mountain climbing and even he hesitated a little on some of the parts coming down; but he succeeded without help nonetheless. For less athletic pups, I would recommend going counter clockwise and just assisting them up some of the steep areas. However you decide to tackle this summit, it's...
