I had no idea how many hiking trails there were in Acadia Nat’l Park! [AD] @tripscout On this lesser known hike, we summited the second highest peak in the park, saw the oldest lake in Maine, and had panoramic views of Somes Sound (the only Fjord along the Atlantic coast), Cranberry Isles, Frenchman’s Bay, and more. On a clear day, you can even see Mount Katahdin in the distance! 🤯 #MaineThing 🥾HIKE INFO: [Save for later!] We started the route with a fun (yet steep) rock scramble up the “giant slide.” It is indeed named after a rock slide, and also follows a waterbed. We proceeded to scale the rocky terrain up to Sargent Mountain summit, passing “Lake of the Clouds,” and continued along the ridge to Penobscot Mountain. Both summits offered amazing views in all directions! We did this as a point to point (2 🚗) and came down on the Carraige Roads where we passed a waterfall! *We hiked with a local guide from Maine Guided Tours, and I highly recommend it! 👉🏼Who would you tackle this amazing hike with!? ⚠️This hike is considered moderate-strenuous with varying terrain and incline. Make sure you have proper footwear, navigation, water, snacks, etc. Happy hiking!

Completed the Penobscot Trail, the mountain loop, at the Acadia State Park! It is about 5.2 miles. This is an intermediate hike. There were side of cliffs we held onto and walked tightly across, rungs to hold tightly and make it onto the next step of the trail, and high footstep bridges to walk across. I recommend hiking shoes to keep your ankles and feet protected and balanced. The view is gorgeous at the top!

Great views of the valley and surrounding areas, the hike isn't bad at all. Definitely worth it even for average hikers.

It’s a medium difficulty trail but the view from the top is amazing. You can park the car at Jordan lake.
