The Abandoned Haunted House Complex in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is an ABSOLUTE MUST-SEE!!!
We just visited for the second time during their special event for the Midwest Haunters Convention — and once again, they blew us away!
Abandoned offers three incredible haunted houses: Ambush, Hysteria, and Stalker. Each haunt takes approximately 20 minutes to walk (and scream) through — and you absolutely get your money’s worth in both duration and intensity.
What sets Abandoned apart is that ALL THREE attractions are equally outstanding — not a single one feels watered down or like filler. That’s an incredibly rare accomplishment — and Abandoned pulls it off with style.
Here’s why this haunt is an absolute can’t-miss experience:
✨ Set Design & Atmosphere: The sets are phenomenal — you can clearly see that countless hours of creativity and planning went into every space. The placement of props, attention to detail, and immersive environments are simply next-level.
🎵 Multi-sensory Experience: The sights, sounds, smells, animatronics, fog, strobe lights, tight spaces, elevation changes — all designed to completely immerse and disorient you in the best way possible.
🧟♂️ Scare Actors: Abandoned is relentless and in your face! The actors bring an incredible energy — always keeping you on edge and fully engaged. I was amazed to learn that they have creative control over their costumes, allowing them to bring unique personalities and authenticity to their characters. The result is a cast of genuine, diverse, and terrifying monsters. Hats off to the entire crew — from featured roles to supporting actors — for your passion and commitment.
🎟️ The Team Behind the Scenes: Huge thanks to security, the ticket booth staff, the parking team, and all of the behind-the-scenes staff who help make this massive, well-run machine possible. Every piece of the experience is polished and professional.
One thing that really stood out during this non-seasonal event was the pacing — it was absolutely perfect. We felt like we had the entire haunt to ourselves, walking at our own slow pace without ever feeling rushed or bottlenecked. This made the experience even more intense and immersive, letting us take in every incredible detail while still being surprised at every turn.
Finally, a huge thank you to Corey and his team for creating one of the best haunted attractions we’ve ever experienced. The passion and dedication behind the scenes are obvious in every aspect of the show.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — An unmissable haunt for any fan of the genre. Abandoned is truly...

Pros: *Easy to find Great deal for all of the different attractions. The Length of the haunts was great! took about 20 to 30 mins to get through each. The Waiting area was great. Had theming, large screen with videos to keep people entertained, food and gift shop all in one central "Hub." The Theming made me feel like i was going back in time with how it was done! Superb use of space, the walkways are wide enough for people to walk through but not much more. Walkways almost doubled back to see where you came from or where your going with how everything is set up and the actors can then get you twice. The Details in Ambush were amazing and the theming in each area was awesome and you could tell what they were going for. The Details throughout Stalker were less but still the same level of amazing when you entered the detailed areas. The "Cemetery Mausoleums" were a cool maze with all of them and the coffins. Decent prices on the shirts and hoodies. Characters out and about in the waiting area / hub. Actors inside the house were all in their own ways awesome, from the dancing / jokes / scares / interactive-ness. Actors costumes ranged from good to great! *Lighting was very well done in the Ambush House. The areas where your visibility is nearly none are well done! Stalker Trail was well made! Traded in the online printout for actual tickets. It's something small as a memento of going there but cool to keep!
Hit or Miss All of the areas tall people have to bend over to fit through the not as tall passageways. I Loved it but others behind me were appreciating the calling out of them as they didn't see the 1st few... Outdoor Waiting: It works out here and was designed like a hub, but with bad weather there is not much areas to hide from storms. (Note: On the site webpage they state if it rains they give out free rain ponchos, a cool gesture!) Social Distancing is hit or miss and some interactions are touch based in the haunts.
Cons: A person can trip a lot over doorways and the cage in the cornfield has a huge ledge going all the way around it if your not paying attention to the ground you can get tripped up on it looking straight-up. Missed a few scares due to the group sizes, as their happening in front of you / behind you. That is kinda expected though.
Nitpick: *Not all attractions are open on any one day. It is well worth making a 2nd trip back however. Few areas it seemed actors could be hiding at but were not...
Read moreI went here on 10/15/22, and here are my thoughts, The first haunted attraction which was ambush was very fun, the preshow was done really well and I won't spoil it. From there you went into a house with many different scenes including and eygyptain scene, a castle scene, a cannibal scene and many more, the scenes were done really well from what I could see but I would've liked it better with more lighting so you could see more. Another thing to say is that while we did get some scares we were packed in with another group and that forced some actors to kind of just stand there and many rooms in the house just didn't have many actors. There were some cool and unexpected scares a lot from it being dark and then a actor coming out of an unexpected place with a strobe light. Overall it was a fun time. The second haunt which was Hysteria started I think in the basement but we didn't have to wait in another line so that was good. The begining actually had some humor as you could volunteer to get paddled by nuns (I didn't it looked like it hurt) The Hysteria attraction is more like controlled chaos as with the lighting you coudn't really tell what was going on but I sort of made out that part of it was in a subway. The third attraction we went to was the haunted cornfeild called stalker (which I would recommend doing first as most people have the idea to do this second and the line gets long) Stalker had more of a hillbilly corn field vibe and many scenes took place in shacks or "slaughterhouses" including a good scare with a mascot of the meat shop that I won't spoil. The one downside is it seemed a little bit understaffed, a lot of spots seemed like they would be a good place to scare but nothing happened. Overall it was a very fun night and I would recommend this haunted house but one thing I will say is $40 is pretty pricey. I went with a group of college friends and many more people said they would've come with if it was cheaper. I think $25 is a more reasonable price for a haunted attraction or some sort of college discount (although I understand that some college kids cause trouble and don't act the most mature in these envornments) overall if you have the money I would...
