Beautiful State park and has been on my bucket list for a while because it’s so far away but I’m so glad we finally went. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen and worth the drive and wait. We got pretty early and it was already busy with a line to drive into the park entrance. It’s $10 per vehicle and there are 2 parking lots. The main one is near the waterfall and visitor center. There is a picnic area right across from the parking lot and next to the picnic area is the visitor center with a separate building across from it with plenty of flushable restroom stalls and a sink inside the stalls to wash your hands. Surprisingly it’s pretty clean. You can easily spend an hour or day here depending on what you want to do. The hike is fairly short and easy and we saw some quick hikers who just viewed the waterfall and left. This is what helped with parking as some people are leaving while others come in so does help with parking. If you’re lucky you will find a parking spot at the main parking lot which is closer to the waterfall. Otherwise, you can park at the second parking spot which is by Lake Britton and past the campground with about 1.5 miles walk back to the waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is pretty easy but wear shoes with a good grip as it is wet in some parts due to the mist and can be a little slippery. We opted to hang out for half a day and used the picnic tables to eat lunch. They do rent kayaks if you want to use the lake and there are camping spots inside the park if you wish to stay the night. The long drive and beautiful waterfall is worth the...
Read moreBurney Falls is a one of a kind experience! We absolutely love staying at the McArthur Campgrounds adjacent to the park and have always had a comfortable stay in the cabins. They're minimalistic, so you'll need to provide your own bedding and there's no electricity in the cabins, so we always bring some battery powered lanterns with us, but the cabins feel safe and secure, which is all we really ask for. The bathrooms are clean both in the campground and near the falls and the general store has some really good sandwiches and treats.
The falls themselves are just breathtaking! This was the first year we've gone since my cancer diagnosis and I've had some mobility issues and am currently using a scooter. Most of the path down to the falls is paved and wheelchair accessible, but there are a few stairs that my husband had to carry my scooter down for me. The grade is pretty steep but I was able to make it up and down without too much difficulty. I wouldn't recommend attempting to get down to the falls by yourself if you are using a wheelchair or mobility device, but if you have companions to help you, it's definitely doable.
We love Burney and will continue to come back...
Read moreWe stayed there for camping in cabins for 2 nights. Overall really good experience. Waterfall is amazing and very close to the camping spot. Lake is also nearby and they provide boat rental too. There are a couple of trails as well. Cabins were clean. They provide mattresses (4 mattresses for single room), have fireplace, picnic bench, parking spot. There is no electricity (there are power outlets but they doesn't work), only heater which I am not sure if they work. There have showers and flush toilets to cabin. There is electricity and power outlets there which works :). You need to use tokens for shower (2 minutes for 1 tokes worth 50 cents). You can also rent camping area if you don't want cabins. There is store where you will find almost everything you need for your stay there. All camping needs (torch, LED lamps, propane, wood, lighter etc.) , food items, milk, ice, ice cream, coffee, paper towels etc. at reasonable prices. So don't worry if you forgot...
