Today we visited Shady Lane Farms; it is their last weekend of the Fall 2024 season. The patch was starting to get a little barren, but there were still PLENTY of pumpkins. If you want a more hearty patch, go earlier in the season. We're from Texas and are in Kentucky for a Fallcation to experience the amazing fall colors and pumpkin patches that don't exist in our state. After much searching and reading reviews, I chose to come to Shady Lane for a pumpkin patch experience. We are so glad that we came! This place is an absolute gem; a true "pumpkin patch" without all the hoopla and insanity of other places that make mini amusement parks. 1) Parking is free. 2) $5/person gets you a ticket for a short hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Once out there, you can stay as long as you want, as well as wander through the corn maze. When done, you just get on a tractor and return to the front. 3) When you return, you go to the cashier's stand and pay $8/pumpkin from the patch. We knew we couldn't take a big pumpkin back to Texas on the airplane, so we opted to buy two of the mini pumpkins for $1/each that are in bins near the cashier. There are other speciality pumpkins in bins as well. I also bought a jar of the homemade strawberry jam that was for sale. They have many flavors of jams, jellies, salsas, and butters - there was a very sweet elderly lady who offered taste tests of anything they offered. The little concession barn has some food options that smelled delicious, we just didn't get anything to eat because we weren't that hungry. There are some hay bales for children to climb on and run on, and two tire swings for anyone to enjoy. There is also a pen with some goats that you can feed ($0.50/each goat food). Shady Lane Farms is small, simple, and straight to the point for enjoying some time in a pumpkin patch and taking in the colors of fall. We HIGHLY recommend this pumpkin patch and the lovely and kind people...
Read moreIf you're looking for an honest down home pick your pumpkins eat some snacks and have a good time, you found your spot! The pumpkin prices are the best part! $5 for a hayride that takes you to the pumpkin patch and then each pumpkin is $8 and I can vouch that we've gotten some absolute monsters out of there and did not pay a dime over $8! And when you come back you pay for your pumpkins in the same spot that you left for your hayride it's pretty quick very simple and they've got all kinds of other homemade goodies and gourds and some larger pumpkins that you can purchase right there in the same spot then you can Mosey on inside and have a seat while you get some snacks from the concession inside with mainly homemade Sweets and Treats and a few Savory options, like I said snacks. But they're the best kind of snacks for pumpkin picking! And while you wait in line for your snacks they have a small play area with a swing set a few yard games and this really fun hay bale maze that the kids can crawl all over. It's just an overall amazing time without all the Flash and frill that makes me feel like I'm back in my small Hometown again! Not to mention the scenery is beautiful great for fall pictures! Oh I almost forgot the corn maze!! When you get dropped off to pick your pumpkins you can either go straight to picking your pumpkins or take a stroll through the corn maze it's included with...
Read moreWe made our first trip to this farm just a few weeks ago. What a beautiful little hidden gem in town. Beautiful place!! My daughters attend Crossroads elementary and they had a special night for just students and families of crossroads. How awesome. There wasn't very many people there at all which made it nice. Did wait have to wait for the hayride that transports to the pumpkin patch, no biggie. The ride back to the patch is so pretty and peaceful. And the patch is a very decent size. There were a few rotten pumpkins throughout the patch but I think that's to be expected. We picked 3 beautiful pumpkins and brought them home. My family had an amazing time and have plans to return yearly. So much better than making the trip to other farms that aren't so close. If you get a chance, stop in and grab ya a few pumpkins. Shopping local is the...
