This review has nothing to do with the musical acts at the Kansas Star Casino Event Center and everything to do with the sound engineers to run the venue sound system.
Last night my wife and I enjoyed a great concert by Night Ranger. Saw them many times at various arenas throughtout the midwest. Never disappoints, always a great show but the sound mix was so bad that it made the band sound horrible. Everything appeared to be ran directly to mains mixed thru the board and the band members IEM's. I know from personal experience that IEM's are mixed according to the individuals taste so the sound emitted from the mains is left to the desire of the engineer who at this show possessed horrible ears or taste in sound.
I have been to several shows at the Kansas Star and the majority of the bands sounded horrible thanks to the events sound engineer. There is a lot to understand about proper live sound production so I will just say that the sound is a major mess that really needs to be addressed before the next live performance.
It's a great venue, not a bad seat in the house but y'all really need to hire people who know how to mix live shows. ...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to see a concert at the arena. We tried to buy Pizza but they did not have pizza, even though it was on the menu. We decided to buy four hot dogs, two large drinks, two chips and a candy bar... That came to $48.00. What!? Both candy bars were melted and and we could barely get them unwrapped and the hot dog buns were very dry and hard, not good at all.
I went up to the upper concession stand and they had chicken tenders with potato wedges for $10, we decided to try that instead. We quickly discovered they were no better, they had been in the warmer way too long and they were soggy... If this business wants to sell food they should let a private company take over. The food is terrible and way overpriced...
The concert was awesome but the food is terrible! Trust me, eat before you come here for an event because they are not serious about good food and good service. I'm surprised people don't get food poisoning.
We will never eat here again and may stop going...
Read moreThis place was nice for the State Wrestling Tournament. Getting in was a breeze. People were moving into the arena in a very organized manor. The concessions were way overpriced and the food quality wasn't very good. The layout was very spacious and accommodating. The seats were not too squished together as a lot of arenas are. My absolute biggest complaint, and the reason I'm giving two stars, is that the box office was located 20 - 30ft from the casino floor. The entire room was filled with an obscene amount of cigarette and cigar smoke that you had to walk through (with your children). That is unacceptable for families with asthmatic children or loved ones with breathing problems. It would have been possible to enter and buy tickets elsewhere, they just...
