It was a profound privilege for my brother and me to attend the USCCB's Institute Convocation 2025 at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, the major seminary of the Diocese of Chicago. The serene environment of USML fosters an atmosphere of prayer, study, and meaningful encounters. The chapel's breathtaking beauty and the liturgical celebrations were truly uplifting, evoking a sense of heaven on earth. What struck me most was the unity and wholeness of the congregation's voices during Mass, a truly unforgettable experience. After the sessions, we joined fellow participants in praying the Rosary at the Grotto. The tranquil surroundings, adorned with unique topiaries, vibrant flowers, and majestic trees, filled me with serenity. A peaceful walk by the beautiful lake, with its still waters and lush greenery, left me in awe of the beauty that surrounded me. As the day drew to a close, watching the fireflies dance was a magical touch. That night, I drifted off to sleep with a heart full of gratitude and anticipation for the final day's sessions, which proved to be just as enriching. I look forward to next year’s convocation in this same venue when I’ll explore more to find other interesting spots of USML. I can’t end this review without mentioning the smiling, hospitable dining staff who would greet us with a joyful hello at mealtime. The meals were delicious and nutritious. Coffee and different beverages were available. Thank you so...
Read moreI recently stayed at the conference center on Mundelein’s campus for a five day retreat that was organized through our denomination. There were seventeen pastors in our group. The campus is beautiful! The employees at Mundelein Seminary were helpful and extremely nice. The food was pretty good. I really enjoyed my time and appreciated the space provided for reflection and contemplation. It’s a quiet campus that provides a healthy alternative to a noisy world. I would definitely recommend this place to churches, organizations, retreats, or anyone looking to get away. I’ll...
Read moreSpouse & I visited on an early November 2024 Sunday when “just passing through”. Was not sure if we could drive & walk around but some Folks who were there said “yep” and that “we would Love it”.
It was amazing, beautiful, peaceful, unbelievably maintained buildings (we did not enter any) and stunning grounds. The structures, statues, monuments and all are beautiful and set on the shore of a beautiful private lake.
We are so appreciative that the Campus was available for us to...
