A lovely little place by the river. The website for the town offers "camping" but you have to catch them when someone is in the office. We came through late on a holiday and needed a quiet place to park for the night. Went into the cute little town and found the sheriff's office. That too was closed so we hung about for a few minutes till one of deputies came through and asked about it. He asked what state our plates were, how many of was there and said he would pass the details on to the local PD and told us how to find the place. Also said they prefer folks get in a little earlier but understood our situation.
It's a really nice little park. Right next to Green River. There are four or five "camping" sites along the river side with covered picnic tables, a few survivors of grills and trash cans. Porta potties are provided but kind of gross the day we were there.
Word of caution!! Don't mess around in this town! They are good and honest people with enough problems. Don't bring yours there too. I'm sure they'll make sure you are fairly compensated. If you just want to respectfully park, sleep and enjoy the place then go for it.
ALSO!! ITS QUITE A LITTLE ROAD TO ACCESS THE PARK. NOTE TO LARGE RIGS! THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU. ITS TIGHT AND STEEP. We went in a 21' shuttle bus and almost didn't make it out. The way in might be hairy if you have a really heavy load and there isn't that much space to maneuver long rigs.
Thanks, Munfordville! We appreciate your hospitality.
The weirdos in the multi colored shuttle bus!...

Read moreStopped here for a break from a long I-65 trip. The playground is close to a water treatment facility, so there is definitely an odor but we got over it. A nice playground for up to age 5. We enjoyed the walking trail that has a lot of benches, plants, trees and open space. A fun exercise station. Cute buffalo statue. Went around 4pm and there were many other walkers. I would be cautious to go down there closer to dark or when it's empty....
