Exceptional beach. We stumbled upon it quite by accident and it was so lovely and unique that we cancelled the next leg of our trip so that we could spend the evening here.
The water was so clear and beautiful and there was a massive shallow area to play in. It seemed safe for children because there were so many running around. The inner area was protected from the waves of the lake and was lovely to float in. There were multiple sand bars to sit on way out in the water, and it was clean everywhere.
We did learn that the sandy area you swim on does end abruptly a decent ways out into the water, and we were told it was essentially a 40-60 foot cliff that we were on top of, so be cautious way out in the water if you aren't a confident swimmer. They said the water goes from 2 feet deep to 40-60 feet in a matter of inches.
There was lots of parking available, including quite a few spots right there at the sand. There were trash cans available right off the beach and outdoor bathrooms nearby (they're the ones with a toilet over a pit, but the doors locked and that allowed us to change in privacy. Search for "Public Restroom at Sand Point" for the location.) Lots of parking near the bathrooms, as well as access to a different beach that has a wheelchair accessible path to the water.

Read moreShallow water and a paradise for beach lovers as you can walk half way through the lake without getting wet from waist above for somebody who is at least 5’3” in height. You don’t need to worry much even if you don’t know to swim, you won’t drown. I am usually scared of water and drowning but this beach made me fall in love with it, clear water, just as cold for a great water therapy. I can definitely be here all day long. Trust me you will...
Read moreReally nice beach within Pictured Rocks - at the west end just a few minutes from Munising. Dogs 🐕 allowed here. It’s a long beach to explore if you want, with some old rail lines at the east end. The beach itself is big and the sand is really nice and the swimming area is really nice. Beautiful sunsets here too.
Downside if any is you have to drive here and it really doesn’t connect...
