Spent our summers there as a kid in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Idyllic place to spend part of the summer. My grandparents use to have one of the big cabins down from the Douglas Lake Bar ( use to be a great beach bar, not the fancy dining spot it is now). They sold it before we were born but still there and in fine shape.
Remember how cold the water was and the fishing. Great place to vacation as a kid. My dad enjoyed that he could be reached when fishing (no cell phones back then). Learned to operate a boat and how to get it into the water at the public ramp when we brought it up to the lake from Saginaw. The UofM bug camp was a great place to visit.
I think my cousins still own some cabins...
