It should be noted that I can only speak to the tubing "Polar Blast" portion of this resort. I have 3 specific complaints. First, the parking is less than ideal as you have to cut across the street twice to get to the lodge and the people coming to ski treat it like a highway. Second, the slow down portion is WAY too short so they use rubber matting as brakes. The problem is if you're going fast and the tube stops, you go flying. I saw several people fall pretty hard at the bottom. Finally, the conveyor belt is pretty weak and kept stopping. The workers would yell to "spread out," but it was packed start to finish. We only went here for the 4 people for $50 deal and because it's 45 minutes closer than Brandywine. Frankly, it was a mistake. If you can, I'd strongly suggest Brandywine instead. There are more Lanes, two conveyor belts, and a much longer natural slow down at the bottom. Their 4/$50 special is Thursday nights. Worth the extra drive.

Alpine Valley is the only ski resort in the Cleveland area that regularly gets lake effect snow. Keep an eye on the forecast and you might get a chance to ride in a foot or two of powder. Recently Alpine Valley had 10 inches of fluffy, western style powder and they only groomed 2 of the runs. It was amazing. The resort has lots of open areas between runs to get creative, adding to the western feel. It also usually has a nice mid-sized park. Its major downside is that all but one run really would be best classified as "green" due to lack of steepness. On the upside, it makes a great resort for beginners. My recommendation: keep an eye on the skies and catch some Cleveland powder when you can.

Maximizing the output of the space they have. I have been to Alpine Valley every winter since 2002. It has never been in better condition than it is currently. The snowmaking team are some of the best & I believe Alpine Valley provides a better experience than Boston's Mills because the amount of skiers here is less , which 80% of the terrain. Also, Alpine valley is less steep , also there are two woods trails that make it stand out over BMBW. Food is expensive and middle school cafeteria quality (shriveled up burgers and cheese sticks waiting on a hot tray for a bit too long)

This is a small hill that's good for beginner - intermediate skiers. Parking is convienient for lift access, although not enough spots for the amount of people who go. If you're looking for a bunch of bells and whistles and diverse terrain, this isn't the place.

3/4 "lifts" (they categorize the moving catwalk on the bunnyhill as a lift lol) were open today, and those 3 lifts service 1/3 of the mountain. The 4th lift one of the staffers I asked said they don't have enough employees to run the lift and have safety patrol cover the whole hill. So everyone was funneled into 1/3 of the hill and the lot was totally full. Desptie that, it was less than 5 minutes of waiting to get on the lift. Don't know what people are saying about insane lift times.

The only reason it took that long is because this is a beginner hill. Many people learn to ski here. Tons of people fall getting on and off the lifts. People don't know the merging rules of multiple lanes. If you want a super expedient lift experience, don't go on lifts where people are skiing for the first time ever.

Many are complaining about how Vail ruined this place. As someone who first learned to ski here 25 years ago, Alpine was never some great experience, even if you went in with the reasonable expectation of the hill only being good to keep an intermediate skier entertained for about half a day.

There also isn't anywhere else in the world that is even remotely competitive with the deal Vail gives to active duty, vets, military retirees, and their families. $160 for a season pass that gives you unlimited access to 40 mountains (including Alpine, Boston Mills/BW) all over the continental US, Canada, some in Europe. No other deal remote comes close that I've seen.

Biggest complaint - they are still charging full prices despite 2/3 of the terrain being closed. Didn't effect me personally due to season pass, but it did for those...

I grew up skiing at Alpine, learned how to ski there in my school's ski club.

I've been able to go 1/5 times for ski club so far and let me tell you... My son is absolutely terrified now of skiing. Loud music blaring while almost a hundred kids get in groups. My son's group was all first timers, maybe 7 or 8 of them. My son, along with another boy, were crying before it even started. By the end, 2 more kids ended up crying. Hundreds of people packed onto a small hill. I can't use his ski pass on any other day but Friday. At the last minute they closed Thursday's ski clubs and pushed them all to Friday.

No organization. The ski fitter messed up my kids size, which was super convenient when we had to walk through the "corridor of parents" back and forth just to get them resized.

I feel for my son. This was an absolutely horrible introduction into skiing. I would have rather just saved my money and taught him myself.

When I asked for a refund they said that because I already went once, I had to cancel in the first week.

Now I will have to take the classes with my son because it's so intimidating.

Really disappointed. I hope this year serves Vail right and they lose membership. I will be looking at practically any other avenue next year. They will not be getting another dime out of me.

Not to mention their site lists it as being located in Chesterfield, Ohio. Which is incorrect. They say "for the best dining experience get reservations. RESERVATIONS?!?! For Alpine?!?!

Anyways, obviously I am not at all happy with Alpine and don't recommend it to any parent thinking about...

Highly disappointed. I made reservations for my ten year old for a ski class on a Monday. This was a group class and it was advertised 6 or less kids. $92 for class plus renting equipment. It was MLK day so I expected it to be busy so we got there 60 minutes early. Stood in line almost an hour just to get pass so we were already late, then had to wait for equipment. We got there one hour before it even opened and we’re still late!! By the time we got out to the instructor he had a large group of kids - he was very kind and patient but clearly overwhelmed and had to keep sending kids back in to exchange equipment etc. There were at least 8 kids he was trying to watch. The hill was so crowded other skiers and snowboarders kept running into the kids. My sons’ skis kept falling off- the instructor was trying to move on and my son was trying to put his skis back on as his group went over to the lift. My son lost his group- couldn’t figure out how to get his skis on and I was so upset for him- I attempted making my way to help him but was plowed over by a snowboarder (truly my fault!. My son was in tears- his group had moved on- so we left. I asked at the office of it was possible to get a discount on another class since we weren’t able to participate - I was told no. I called again to explain what happened and again was told they don’t give discounts I shouldn’t have come while it was busy. I guess I thought that if you reserved a lesson and payed in advance they would have room for him! I felt bad- he was so excited...
