Early this year I happened across a YouTube video describing the abandoned Cleveland and Eastern interurban railroad. The Cleveland and Eastern (C&E) Interurban Railway was an electric railway that operated between Cleveland and Geauga County in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Having never heard of this interurban before I was surprised to learn that there were remnants of the railroad inside The Rookery. I'm a huge nerd for local history so I couldn't wait to explore this park. To see the sights that the travelers saw in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It all just fascinates me so much! I have a feeling I'll be visiting this park a lot more frequently in the...

The Rookery is a nice set of forest trails. There's a lot of wildlife to encounter, wide variety of plant species, and enough forest to walk in blissful silence. It's not the most spectacular of the Cleveland parks, but it's still a good choice for a hiking rotation. It's also mostly flat, so if you're looking for a place with little to no ups and downs, this is an even better choice.

Also, you may be eaten alive by mosquitoes due to the marsh and ponds nearby. ...

Beautiful trails and a slice of history of the interurban trail. I can't wait to go back and see the nesting herons! There's plenty of places to park, a small playground, plenty of trails, and historical signs with information. Just a helpful hint: the interurban trail does not make a loop. Once you get to the end, you have to turn around and head back. Also, i love that there's a random silo there. It seems to host a...

Nice little park. It was good to see the sunshine for the first time in several weeks. There's a lot of little trails that veer of into wilderness. There's A LOT of beaver activity here. Would've given it 5 stars but folks don't seem to pick up their dog's poop for some reason
