Very poor management a nice place to walk. The city hasn't done enough to maintain that lake from a fishing point of view it's very poor they reverse the current to a very small hole then they ran the water behind the back side of an impoundment riding the roots of all the trees and those roots held the back side or helped quite a bit the runoff should be put back to where Mr best had it. Then it would skim off all the debris from the top of the water all the floating mats and return the spawning areas to the fish. Otherwise it's a great place to walk. It has a mile and a half of good walking area. Very nice wheelchair access. The walking area used to be flat now it's tilted towards the water because the city dumped a bunch of rocks on the water side of a of an edge without ground retention and cause the sides to pull into the lake therefore tilting the walkway towards the water so wheelchair would have to go in a slant not very good. It has a nice pavilions only one bathroom in 30 acres that is adjacent to a parking area so be prepared it has a bird sanctuary which is useless and prevents fishermen from fishing the best areas it has equally poor management because during the winter people use the rocks on the side to measure the thickness of the ice therefore the rocks that were placed on the side for whatever reason has now been tossed into the water what a waste of time and money still is a great way to walk and enjoy nature but the true beauty has been devastated by equally poor management. Great place to take the kids to fish for bluegill . It is it has become an area of overgrowth a run of pure water and a bug infested environment. The city allowed plants to be drawn on the side and banks of the impoundment that draws yellow jackets...

The lake itself has gone thru significant changes over the years. Best Sand has a pump spillway back there, which creates sediment influxes and discoloration (Modern day Best Sand is a total money grub of a company). Sadly, the lake will never again contain its crystal clear waters of old. Aside from that, It’s too bad a mandatory catch and release wasn’t put on bass. Turned into a small catfish/pickerel haven, if that’s your thing. Great place that I’ll always visit, excellent paved trail which contains a cool bird sanctuary…but seriously, the sand plant is nefarious and will continue to ruin water quality with every passing year. It’s over-nutrifying the vegetation as well, causing excessive plant growth underwater. Really sad. You could see 8+ feet straight to the bottom on a sunny day 10 years ago, now you’re downright lucky to see anything. Visibility is maybe a foot or 2 during peak pumping of their disgusting slurry. This slurry coats the leaves of every plant in the bowl as well, creating unstable habitat...

So im from Florida right. Well I show up here with my grandpa to go fishing (he wasn't fishing with me, he just dropped me off, then he stayed in the vehicle) we only stayed for a total of 20 minutes. So I see all these other fisherman, and I go and talk to a few, and all of them said something similar to: "I've been here for a few hours and haven't caught anything". I was asking for tips and stuff because I'm not used to Ohio fishing. Well I decided on a finesse dropshot rig and on my third cast I caught a largemouth bass😂 right after catching it, one of the guys I talked to walked up to me. I just thought that was funny and I wanted to brag lol Anyway other than that, the place is beautiful and I definitely recommend it for...

This park is very popular for people seeking a place for a quick walk outdoors. It's close to the City of Chardon and there is convenient parking. The main trail is paved and is a one mile loop around the big pond. People can be seen making vigorous laps around the pond. One can bring your dogs for a walk too, but they must remain on a leash. Fishing is allowed too. The large pond attracts migrating waterfowl and the preserve is also popular with birdwatchers during the spring and fall months. As for what I like, I often take walks there. I noticed that the Geauga Park District has been systematically attempting to control invasive plant species here. Buckthorn and teasel seem to be the latest targets. Bravo!

Very calming, but exciting. Has fishing, and multiple places to sit. Very photogenic , family and pet friendly. There are snakes and turtles and fish of coarse and nice long scenic trails to walk. I would recommend this to anyone, trails are paved too great for biking as well. Very relaxing. There's frogs too. Very natural.
