Our experience was beyond words wonderful from booking to leaving! Layla was the sweetest in her responses and timely as well. She answered any and all questions we had, even provided pics for us at 1 point. We were in awe as soon as we drove up, the property is gorgeous!! They did a great job in keeping LOTS of trees for shade and breeze! The Rubicon was beautiful, there wasn't anything we needed that they didn't provide! It was super clean and stocked with everything. They even had little food/water bowls for our little dog Sutton. Our 8 year old grandson Lucas went running in and said it was the BEST TRREHOUSE EVER with his arms open wide, he kept saying he couldn't believe we were able to stay in a REAL treehouse!! Tom was so sweet and friendly. He introduced himself as he brought the firewood and set up the firepit for us, told us if we needed anything, just let them know. We used the firepit that night to cook hamburgers with the grate near the firepit and the next day for s'mores! Lucas was so excited to be able to do that! We went exploring the area, walked around to see the other treehouses, the pond, the bathhouse etc. It was so well taken care of and clean. They were even planting squash and tomatoes!! Lucas had a blast running everywhere until it was time to eat. We used the wonderful grill several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The seating area was perfect on the HUGE deck! The table is big enough for a family of 6 or 8 I think, it is covered and the perfect place to eat, play card games, board games, color, etc. My husband had a hammock that he tied to the porch and to the tree and slept outside one night! He was in Heaven lol. Sutton had plenty of room to roam or stay close to us if she wanted. Lucas loved playing upstairs where the tv and bed is, he had brought some toys with him and they were everywhere lol. The bed was so comfortable! I was able to sit outside and read in peace and quiet with the gentle breeze and the sounds of the animals. It was very relaxing, and peaceful, we couldn't ask for more! Then we let Tom know we would like to use the hot tub the next evening for our anniversary, they need notice to get it ready, since it is heated by firewood. The experience was wonderful!! Tom told my husband all about it and what we needed/could do. What a nice, warm, relaxing time it was! A great way to end the day. We did venture out to Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Copperhill and McCaysville. All were great, but if you just want to stay at the property, that will be perfect too!! All of the other treehouses looked great as well, they were not right up on each other, so there is privacy. All had their own firepit, which the owners provide all the firewood for. I could go on for days and days, it is probably a good thing they limit me to 3000 words lol. We plan on coming back to maybe try the other treehouses, just to see. We can't thank you all enough for sharing this with us and everyone else!...
Read moreMy wife and I just had the privilege of celebrating our anniversary at Treehouse Mountain. I have always been intrigued by a treehouse that one could actually sleep in, so it was great to finally experience that. Treehouses are very much in vogue these days and just putting the word treehouse in an Airbnb-type listing will steer business to your place. Because of that, many hosts will take great liberties calling something a treehouse when it may be just a structure on a raised platform, possibly surrounded by trees. Well, I can assure you that that is not the case here. These are all legitimate treehouses by the strictness of definitions. These structures are all suspended from the trees that support them. They’ve worked with materials and techniques developed by Michael Garnier, the father of modern treehouses, to hang these structures from the trees (White Oak trees in their case) in a manner that will limit the stress on the tree and not affect the ability of the tree to continue growing. It is all quite sophisticated as you will see in my attached pictures. It made for a very interesting finished product.
These were not just well built structures, these were works of art. Many good carpenters can follow a set of blueprints, but their builder was a real artist. It would have been much easier to put a granite counter in the kitchenette area. Their guy used live edge cedar to craft a beautiful custom counter that was beautiful to behold. Same goes with the upstairs railing. Instead of just fabricating a railing out of lumber, he found the right branches from native Mountain Laurel on the property and turned a boring railing into something beautiful.
And while the treehouse was awesome, the icing on the cake was the real suspension bridge that takes you to the front door. A set of stairs would have been 50 times easier to build, but nothing like the experience of walking across the real swinging bridge. This may be more of a guy thing, but my wife also agreed that it was very cool.
Let’s not stop with the treehouses. Tom, Elke, and their daughter and general manager, Layla, were also great. We enjoyed conversing with them and learning about their experience in putting this beautiful venue together.
The property is located just 1,500’ or so from the TN/NC border line of site. A quarter mile walk on a paved road heading NE from their property entrance takes you to the border. The only clue that you’ve crossed the state line is that the quality of the road changes. I’ll let you come visit to see if the road gets better or worse when you cross the line.
I’m quite confident in saying that you will not regret booking a stay at...
Read moreI can’t speak highly enough of Treehouse Mountain. We stayed in the Stamish Castle and it was definitely one of the most unique and fun places that we’ve stayed at. The property and treehouse were absolutely beautiful. We arrived on 10/31/2022 during peak fall season. We enjoyed the beautiful colors of the trees and perfect weather. Definitely recommend going during this time of year. It truly is a magical place and the beautiful fall colors really add to the experience. We arrived late at night but we had no trouble locating the property and the treehouse. The Stamish castle was beautifully decorated. We couldn’t stop admiring all the craftsmanship and details that were put into the treehouse; the decorations, the fluffy towels, the cozy blankets, the beautiful dishes and well stocked kitchen and the most comfortable bed that we would literally just sink into after a long day of exploring the area. We really enjoyed spending time on the front porch to have our coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The porch overlooks the entire property and even though you can see the other treehouses on the property, you really do have a lot of privacy and feel secluded. The outdoor griddle was also perfect for cooking delicious meals….. we had everything we needed plus more!! The bathhouse is also very close to the treehouse and was super clean. We had no issues walking down to the bath house for showers. What really adds to the experience is that the entire property is dog friendly. We were able to let our dog out and explore and play with the other dogs on the property. Our dog probably enjoyed the treehouse just as much, if not more than we did!! It was so nice letting him out to run around and also enjoy the property. Last but definitely not least, the hosts are truly the most amazing people. We were there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and Layla decorated our room with birthday decoration before our arrival. She even had the most delicious chocolate cake waiting for us in the fridge!!! Not many hosts go above and beyond like this incredible family!! Tom and Elke came and spent some time with us to share there journey with the creation of Treehouse mountain and other future plans for the property. Layla Tom and Elke, thank you so much for being such incredible hosts. We will be back!!! We enjoyed spending time with you all and enjoying your...
