The reason why I give the park a one-star review is for the simple fact that they would not give me my deposit back. They refused answer my phone calls and voice mails when I try to check on my deposit after cleaning the whole venue before and after my daughter's first birthday party. My daughter's birthday was July 10th of this year and still haven't received my deposit. I had several issues with the park when I arrived for my daughter's first birthday party. I called them and notify them that the place was not clean when I first arrived. (Which they stated it would be clean because they are very strict on the building) So, when I arrived, I had to clean the place before I can even set up for my daughter's birthday party. I notified them and sent pictures. I wanted to make sure they won't take my deposit from someone elses trash because they will dock you on every little thing that they see wrong in the building. ( They will dock you even if the chairs and tables are not stacked to the correct number of their liking) So I made sure not to get charged for someone else's mistakes or clean up. I also message her pictures of the roaches that were in the kitchen that my guests seen. took pictures of balloons that were in the rafters because they will dock you if you leave any type of decoration and I notified them but these were not our balloons because they were graduation balloons and not my daughters. they ask for the pictures I sent them and they said they would take care of it and I have never heard from them since and never got my deposit back. These are some of the photos . The colorful one was my daughter's party decoration very simple. Should have been able to get my deposit back. We also cleaned up a lot of Fourth of July mess outside. If I didn't do what I was suppose to do they should have at least gave me a call back and told me what I didn't do and the reason why I can't get my deposit. Very shady business and i will never book anything...
Read moreCivitan has always been my favorite park in Muskogee, based only on appearance. It is a beautiful, wide open expanse of neatly manicured grass, situated on the crest of a gentle hill. It is across the street from the equally picturesque campus of Parkview School (Oklahoma School for the Blind). This review led me to look at the Muskogee Parks website and I was surprised to learn that the original survey of the park was done by Nathan Boone (son of Daniel Boone), and that the eastern boundary lays on the dividing line between the Creek and Cherokee Nations. It is light on amenities. I love the single concrete walking path, but as long as it is, it gets lost in the 43 acres of open space, dotted sparingly with big trees. The Frisbee golf course is fun, and rarely busy. But this is primarily just a great place to go when you need to touch grass. The event that brought me here a few days ago was a private party for a friend. It was my first time inside their pleasant, indoor, air conditioned pavilion. It is simple, and could benefit from more windows, but it is clean and brightly lit, snug and dry and climate controlled. It rents with tables and chairs. It has a large "kitchen" - really more of a food prep area, but it has a sink and 'fridge and is bright and clean. The clean, modern shelters available to the public at this and other city parks are an excellent option to gather moderately large groups, larger than one would want to gather in your home. I understand it's first come first serve, although they can be reserved in advance. Fees are more than reasonable, you pick up the key and pay at the Parks department offices. It's a good venue for birthdays, send off's,...
Read morethe next time you're looking to take the family and get outdoors this is the place to go in Muskogee. it's a little piece of "not Muskogee" in Muskogee. 8 or 10 years ago I used to go to this park to fly kites because of the beautiful hills, grass and open space. They have always had a playground and a picnic area but the playground has been completely updated. it is much bigger and includes a splash pad! they're also seem to be more picnic tables. Everything in the park is brighter, cleaner and seems safer. They also rent out the shelter which has an indoor kitchen and bathroom and a large covered patio. We had one of my daughter's birthday parties there many years ago and we had a wonderful time! there's also a paved walking track ( I believe it's a mile around if I'm not mistaken ) There's something for everybody...
