There is No āæļø Handicapped āæļø access to the walking trails via the convenient roadside parking. This means there are many times that my access is limited to this section while able-bodied park patrons can easily walk up the slope to enjoy.
I love coming here for the walking trail. I'm completely nonambulatory (T2 paralysis) and in a motorized wheelchair, so it takes room for me to move about and this is one of the only places available to me to get out and enjoy nature. And really to just enjoy moving around. For wheelchair bound people, especially those of us unable to push ourselves since electric wheelchair are so much larger, it's very important to our physical and mental health to have places we can go to move around and get to feel somewhat normal.
I keep hoping this will get fixed along with more sidewalk access in the park proper.
I've loved coming to this park literally my entire life and if you're able bodied I highly recommend it. If you're not, expect more frustration than at most parks but it's still worth the effort to try and enjoy...

Then they gave us some free bell peppers and some stickers. Then she gave us a map of the park and sent us over to the splash pad to play which was pretty fun for how small it is. I thought that the playground area was pretty awesome. Probably one of the best in town. Almost the whole thing was shaded and it's like a giant log cabin castle of slides and whatnot. I'm going to say there's probably 5 to 8 slides. There were ducks running around everywhere. My kids...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe VA is allegedly trying to improve its reputation and care of veterans but until they lift the freeze on hiring white Americans and stop importing foreigners, (many, many, many muslims) it will be impossible to improve their services.
All things VA are primarily staffed by minorities with the only whites there being the volunteers.
Call me racist if you wish, but modeling veteran's healthcare on the socialized healthcare of a 3rd world nation doesn't exactly produce the desired results unless the desire is to shorten our lifespans, thereby saving money on our pensions and basic healthcare needs.
Hire people based on their qualifications rather than the darkness of their skin and the services will improve and the backlog...
