Oceanview of Nahant — Attraction in Nahant

A true and honest review:

TL:DR - AMAZING staff, beautiful venue, don’t regret doing our wedding there at all, a bit of false advertising, and many things were incredibly overpriced.

I’ll start with the pros. First off let me say that each and every staff member at Oceanview of Nahant, ESPECIALLY all of the coordinators, are absolutely amazing and deserve nothing but praise. Particularly for my wife and I, we worked with Sami and Allison throughout the planning process and Claire and Meghan for our day of coordinators. They were all amazing from start to finish, especially Claire and Meghan on the day of. They made it so stress free and organized everything so well!

In addition, the venue is unbelievably beautiful. We are still constantly getting compliments about how beautiful the place was. It’s so perfectly designed for weddings in every way shape and form.

The food was also fantastic. We did a clambake which was a blast. The lobster was so good and so was everything else! The bibs were a fun touch lol. Everyone is still talking about the food! While on the topic of the clambake, let’s get to the cons.

The first and biggest con was that we were misled to what the clambake was going to be. They actually just prepare all of the seafood in the back kitchen with everything else. Yet, they call it a clambake and even advertise it as being done on the rocks with seaweed outside on the beach like a typical clambake is done via a video on their website. What’s worse is they recently redid their website and they still showcase that video. We were never told that it wasn’t actually a clambake, so for a year throughout the planning process we kept telling all of our guests about how we were doing this outdoor clambake, and we were very disappointed to find out that they actually don’t do that anymore and we actually found out from our photographer 2 months before the wedding. So that was definitely a bummer lol. Don’t get me wrong it was still great, but why advertise that if that’s not what you do? We felt it should’ve been explained to us when we decided to do the clambake.

My last con is probably no surprise being that this is a wedding venue and a high end one at that, is that they nickel and dime the heck out of you if you want absolutely anything extra. Want the arcade machines that are already plugged into their walls? $1500. Want them to turn on the fire pits and make some smores at night? $2000. Things like that. I just wish these things were a lot more accessible and the pricing of them kind of just seems like a “cause we can” kind of thing.

They also used the fog machine for our last dance and we asked to do it without that. Not a big deal, but just wanted to point it out.

Again, let me reiterate that the staff and coordinators were truly amazing!!! And the venue was incredible. Despite the cons, we don’t regret a thing. They made it the most incredible day of our lives and we’d do it all over again if we could!

I got married on 8/11/18, and I’m still smiling from what a perfect day it was! We only visited two venues, and when we left Oceanview we both knew that was the place we wanted to get married. It’s an absolutely beautiful venue, and since we first booked they did huge renovations which made it even more beautiful! When we first visited, there was a sign with our names on it and we were greeted by Matt (owner). That warm, friendly vibe from that initial moment was felt throughout the whole process. All of the staff there are true professionals and truly care about making your big day as special as it can be. The food is absolutely delicious, and the menu has a lot to choose from! We also used many of their preferred vendors as we were not from that area and are so happy we chose them. Allison is a true gem. She walked us through our entire day for our final meeting and made us feel so at ease! She is such a positive, genuine person who will do whatever it takes to have your day go as smooth as possible! She was with us the entire night of our wedding and did a fantastic job setting up all of our decor beforehand! Caitlin did our rehearsal and took careful notes of how we wanted everything to be set up and made us feel so comfortable heading into the big day! We got married outside, and it was raining all day leading up to it but Matt, Allison, and Ralph had backup plans ready if needed. It stopped raining right before the ceremony, and they all quickly made sure the outside was ready for guests as they arrived. Richard the bartender is so personable and so attentive. Ralph is like the hero of your wedding. He makes sure everything runs smoothly and is so attentive to the bride and groom all night. I can’t even name everything that he does because it is so much! He actually had to sew my dress for me so I could bustle it. The fire pit finale at the end is very cool and unique! Our guests really enjoyed that part. It is such a great way to top off your night! My husband, our families, and myself were pleased with every aspect of this venue. I absolutely recommend this place! I could not recommend Oceanview more to anyone who is looking for a venue who cares about you, works hard with you to meet your needs, and is extremely affordable for the quality of service you receive. My husband and I just got married there in the beginning of September and the entire process we were treated like royalty. Originally when we took a tour we were greeted with a custom sign welcoming us, and Allison, our tour guide, was extremely helpful with answering all of our questions. Throughout the entire year the process was extremely organized, they went out of their way to email us friendly reminders, gave us tips about food selections, and we even got to go to a tasting event with other couples to welcome everyone which was super fun. They were also very responsive to phone calls and emails which as awesome. The day before the wedding we had a final meeting to discuss all of our details, and the owner was even kind enough to order an alcohol they didn't normally carry for no additional charge. They even created a custom ice cream flavor for us based on our wedding theme!!! From there it only got better, the day of the wedding they were extremely helpful in guiding our bridal party, the food was incredible, and they even stayed with us at the end to help us unpack all of our stuff and put it back in the car. We truly had a day to remember and it was because of this incredible team of people. My husband and I were even surprised with a free T-shirt as a gift! You can see they all clearly care about you and your big day, and I think what sets them apart is the fact that they only do weddings; that way they can devote all their attention to you versus it being at a hotel or something like that.
