Great experience. We hand not gone in a very long time. I am now Handicapped and we love going down to the hidden lake. Unfortunately, the path was not smooth enough for me to even get a view of it. So we found a creek just after you turn left to get there. I was hurting so bad just after all the roots and uneven ground. That's nature though. Took lots of pics with our pup & kiddos (there was no way down for me-nature again). That was fun. Unfortunately, after the fun, my husband had to pick me up. As my new hip couldn't taken any more of the uneven ground. Would love a nice path for us Handicapped folks to get back there at least. 😉

Super fun. Free. Beautiful. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The Hidden Lake is great. We saw Eastern and three-toed turtles, a snake, tadpoles.

This a wonderful TN State Park, split up into areas along the Harpeth River. The Hidden Lake Trail is my favorite, with the Narrows area coming in at a close second place. If you’re after a simple and beautiful little stroll, check out the Gossett Tract area of the park. The Hidden Trail is easy and is a mile or so long. It meanders around and through a wildflower field in the beginning and it ends at a small ‘hidden’ lake. The Narrows has a 1/3 of a mile long incline to a beautiful a bluff area with a terrific overlook. Behind The Narrows is the Tunnel Trail, which isn’t very long either but you’ll end up at a tunnel/waterfall.

Cons: Sadly the hidden "lake" was more of a large pond of stagnated water. We certainly weren't about to swim here once we saw what was there. Pros: The hike to get there is beautiful and "hidden". The trail had small signs posted along the way, each with a page to a children's short story you could walk and read as you explored.

Benches at different points to sit on trail.

Close to harpeth river canoe/kayak launch

Not terribly busy even on a weekend.

Portable restroom at entrance

Picnic tables near entrance also.

On the trails to the right of hidden lake you can see the remains of buildings reclaimed by nature, wildflowers, an old oil* tank? buried and a marble dance floor near the top that is from...

Easy hike. It's a loop around the pond if you look for the path. It can be muddy in winter, and it can be a little low on water in the summer. You can see the river from the main trail, but it's not a clear view. A little noisy due to the proximity of the road. If you're looking for isolation, this is really not the place. There are a few old structures in the vicinity, which are cool to see/explore. It's a nice little hike close to town, and it's not too populated. One nice thing is that this is not a party spot - lots of families, couples, and quiet folk. Nice place for a Sunday stroll. There's also not a lot of trash lying about. Picked up one beer can today, but...

Beautiful trails. Heavily wooded aside from the bluebird loop. Well-maintained with any blocking trees or branches taken care of within a couple days, even after the recent windstorm. Only complaint is once you are on the trails, they are not well signed or marked. Except for a few signs showing you two options at large forks in the trail, many smaller forks or choices to change your distance with no indication of which trail he would be following. None of the trails are super long so if one takes a wrong turn, it’s not the end of the world, but it can be a little frustrating. Especially if you’re just trying to get to the...
