The beach itself was ok. We have came here for years. Sometimes it looks nice, most times it is covered in trash. This time was ok. The staff today was awful to myself and family. With the exception of Tracy. She was amazing! However the staff member with the last name billing I believe first name was Lana ( not sure) was awful. The park closed at 7 pm. At 6:30 pm they made an announcement that the water was closed. We quickly got out and got packed up to leave. Where we were swimming and where we parked were at opposite ends of the beach. By the time we walked to the parking lot it was 7:02 pm. Where the lady on a golf cart snapped at us that they were closed. It was extremely rude and unprofessional the manner in which she spoke to us. We were actively leaving. As we were getting into the car she is raising her voice telling us to leave. Which you could tell we were doing. I informed her that her coming to confront us was making it take longer. Mind you there was another larger family also packing up their family trying to leave as well and not one word was spoken to them. We were not the last car out of the lot, but the only one she confronted. We used to love going to the beach but these last few years it has gone downhill. Our car was off the property by 7:04pm. I apologize to the facility that it took longer than expected to walk to the car and pack up with 5 children in total, but I do believe there is a professional way to make a point. To be approached with kindness I would shown kindness in return. I work in a retail environment and understand the importance of closing and wanting to leave, but still believe in speaking to another person professionally and...
Read moreWe visited the park and wanted to get a quick family photo on the small beach area before sunset. The park was scheduled to close at 7:00 PM, and we arrived around 6:40 PM. An older white woman, who appeared to be an employee there, immediately approached us in a golf cart, acting very rude and demanding that we leave immediately saying the park is closed. She would not listen to my attempts to explain that we were just taking a quick picture and would leave promptly after as planned.
She then drove her golf cart at us, which was frightening for my young kids. Her behavior seemed especially harsh compared to how she treated other park guests. We watched her patiently escort a white family out, giving them plenty of time, while simultaneously being very aggressive towards us and another Hispanic family. Her behavior felt prejudiced and created a very negative and scary experience for my children who were with me but we left promptly as asked reminding her to be more respectful to people as it would get her a better response.
The beach area itself is very small, and it's a shame that a single employee could ruin what should have been a nice family outing. This kind of unprofessional and discriminatory behavior is unacceptable and I pray she...
Read moreMan made beach by the locke on old hickory. 5 dollars per car to access in the summer swimming season. Lots of trees and well kept grounds. The Sand gets a little slimy but that's lake swimming for you. The area is roped off and not too deep so very safe for kids and weaker swimmers. No life guard and the only facilities are a porta potty on one side and a small bathhouse. If you want to lay out plenty of sunny spots to do so. Overall good option for a quick swim or float if you don't have a boat or easy access to the lake. For non swimmers there is a small but nice playground for the kids picnic benches with charcoal grills and a...
