New Cowhide Cover Campground provides nice shady areas for camping and open beaches on the lake that surrounds the campground. This is your typical Army Corp Campground. Typical in that everything is designed with campers in mind. The sites are angled just right for backing in. The sites are wide with no hidden obstacles, making it a breeze to back in. Typical Army Corp means PERFECT in every way. There is a playground on site for the kids and a designated area for swimming. Each site has a picnic table, grill, and a prep station pedestal beside the grill. Trash cans in the campground means no hauling your trash to a remote dumpster. Showers and bathhouses are available. I believe most sites are full hookups, but there is a dumpstation at the entrance that can be used when coming in without the need to turn around. The dump station is accessible either entering or leaving the campground. Nicely designed. There's a boat ramp with several places to park your truck and boat trailer. In short, this is a great place to stay, and the rates are very reasonable.

Im not sure how this is the "new" campground as the numbering of the sites is lower here than the "old" side. But this is a very nice campground with lake access, swimming area, bathroom/shower facilities, water and electricity. Not all the sites are suitable for tenting, so take a look at google earth before you book this Corps of Engineers campground. Overall a very nice location that is well maintained.

It was a very nice camp ground. If you have little children, I'd recommend to get the site numbers 3,4,5, because they are the closest sites from the play ground and you can just see your kids from there. The kids enjoyed playing in their little play ground. We're definitely going back again. The restrooms and shower rooms are clean and open 24/7

It's beautiful and the spots are a good distance apart. The water is pretty clean, comparable to degray lake and not busy (at the end of July). Rates are decent. Close-ish to Albert Pike. Has a play ground, boat ramp and swimming area. At this time of year you can walk all the way out to the end of the swimming area. Showers have 3 stalls, and have...
