Naugatuck State Forest — Attraction in Naugatuck

Favorite little hiking and running spot of mine. Gorgeous changes in scenery, from your typical Connecticut deciduous woodlands, to pine trees surrounding the four reservoirs, to lush ferns and waterfalls down Spruce Brook, to sunny scrub brush and hillsides full of blooming mountain laurel. Actually, no…this place sucks…don’t come here. It’s terrible…go somewhere else. No but all joking aside, if you do visit this lovely (and enormous) state park, please carry out any trash you bring in, and if you want to score some extra points, pick up some extra litter while you’re there....

A great place with a lot of trails and some really good high points to take it all in. Different types of hiking throughout. Really good workout if you climb up and down the side trails, nice quiet stroll if you stick to the lower sections. There are spots to park all along the road leading in from the Naugy side, plus two dirt parking lots down by the train tracks. Avoiding the vicinity of the gun range at certain times may be necessary if some distant gunfire is an annoyance, but it is a big place. Worth a visit if you crave a...

Good hike, the path up to the waterfall and slightly beyond is decently wide but then it narrows and a lot of loose rocks( make sure to wear hiking boots or high top shoes ) Otherwise no complaints. Dont be frightened by the gun shots there is a gun...
