McDonnell Trailhead - Ohio-Erie Canal Towpath Trail — Attraction in Navarre

I love this trail-head! It's a section of the Buckeye Trail, the Ohio & Erie Canal Scenic Byway, Ohio-Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and Great American Rail-Trail and the Tuscarawas River Water Trail, a small mouth bass fishing hole, and NTR canoe livery pickup.

Since the aqueduct was dedicated in 2013, volunteer cleanups have re-established a more pristine environment!

A boardwalk was constructed in 2020, which closed the last remaining gap from our beautiful and historic Tuscarawas County all the way to Cleveland...

Being located about a quarter mile toward Bolivar, Ohio, we're a little biased! Having given the disclosure, we welcome everyone to enjoy the McDonnell trail head and aquaduct bridge on the Towpath Trail!

The historical communities of Bolivar and Zoar are only a short trek east on the trail. Revolutionary war fort Laurens is between the villages. We encourage everyone to hike through northern Tuscarawas county and indulge yourself in our beautiful and historical...

Very nice bridge going across the tusc. There is parking here if you want to start and go north on the trail. It was not very clean or well kept though. There's a canoe launch, some people swim there. I wouldn't reccomend this though as there's a sewage plant upstream...
