Rollins Distillery — Attraction in Navarre

We were thrilled to visit Rollins Distillery today in Gulf Breeze. I grew up here and brought my family back here for vacation and visiting Patrick and Paul Rollins at Rollins Distillery was priority on my list! They did not disappoint! Patrick gave us a very thorough tour of the facility and really went into depth about how they make their product and what all was involved in the distillation process. I had no idea how complex it was to make a top shelf drink and found everything exquisitely informative and incredibly interesting! Then Patrick brought us into the tasting room for a personal introduction to each of their current lines. His tantalizing description and instruction of each sample was spot on and very enjoyable. These guys definitely know what they're doing. Rollins Distillery is a small, humble distillery resulting from years of bonding between a father, a son, and their shared passion to produce spirits that stand above the rest. Every bottle of every product they produce exemplifies their love and passion for what they do. We ended up walking away excited with a case full of bottles from each of their lines we bought as gifts for friends and family. Don't hesitate based on the size/location, definitely come in for a tasting.

We came in on a whim while on vacation, expecting a similar experience to other distilleries. Most do it for free, but with little passion or real education. They charged us $5 a person for the tasting, but it was more than worth it!

I learned a great deal about rum styles and our host did a great job of going over the details of each rum and what made it unique.

Their rums, especially their specialty and tasting room only rums, were unique and wonderful. I'm not really a rum guy (I prefer bourbon and tequila), but their stuff was good enough to buy several for my top shelf.

Working at a steady pace, Mr. Rollins carefully explained the whole process of distillation. Since I have been making Homebrew beer for over 5 years, it was fairly easy for my to follow along. What made this so unique, he was not 'open for business'. And while he explained the procedure, he also gave my wife and myself a history lesson on the Gulf area. When the work was done, we were invited to the tasting room. Mr Rollins' main focus is the rum, and I have never had any rum that was better. Smooth is an understatement.
