My brother and I happened by a Jollisant Farms sign on the highway advertising their trophy fishing pond. On a lark we decided to stop in, but noticed that the pond was by appointment only. We ended up calling the number on the sign, and Shelley answered and was more than happy to accommodate our last-minute arrival. For a total of $54 my brother and I were able to fish for nearly three hours on their fantastic farm. We paid $10 an hour, and $5 for a fishing pole and each and $4 for worms. We were also provided with a huge assortment of fishing lures and artificial bait options... but simple worms were more than enough to be successful!
Shelley provided us with ice cold water and the rest of the tools we needed to have fun. Shelley's Husband Jimmy also happened by and chatted and checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. They are both fantastic folks, and were a pleasure to meet. In our time we caught nearly twenty fish, during the hottest part of an August day! I caught our biggest fish, a four pound bass within the first thirty seconds. No, I'm not kidding, as soon as I dropped the line in, I had a bite with the best fish of the day!
This place is awesome, and the people are even better. I can't wait to make the trek from Houston to see the fine folks at Jollisant...
Read moreWe have visited the farm a few times and have had no real complaints, other than it's over priced. You certainly pay for the experience, which I've been happy to do in the past. Today, however, was the Strawberry Festival. It's an annual event. First of all they had no strawberries available for picking today because they had all been picked by customers the day before. Disappointing, but I get that. It happens. Instead of charging a lower entrance fee, we were still charged full price, which was $10 each for adults, and $5 each for my grandchildren. I complained, and the response was that there were signs out about no strawberry picking that day, but nobody said a word about that when we entered and they certainly took our money. When I complained that we were charged a full entry fee, and some customers I heard were charged half price, I was told again, that there was a sign out front about no picking today and that I'd had a choice. That's such a terrible way to handle a customer complaint. I'm so disappointed in these people and I will...
Read moreWe drove 2 hours because they said on the phone yesterday they would have plenty of berries just to be turned away with 2 cars full of kids. They could’ve said they were unsure or to check in the morning but didn’t. The lady working there was rude. We asked if we could let the 3 and 4 year olds just run around a little and see if they could find one or two, willing to pay, and she said absolutely not. We have come here for years but after this experience we will not be back. Such a disappointment for things to be handled this way. There were several other families that arrived the same time as us because they were told the same thing yesterday. Maybe they just want people to drive all the way out there whether there are berries or not, hoping they’ll still get some money from park entrance...
