I like Oliver Reservoir it has nice spots and lots of trees and would be a great place to camp. Unfortunately the park rangers or whatever you want to call them that drive around the park all day in their trucks don't enforce the rules. We have been here multiple times and every time there are people running generators and blasting music all hours of the night. There are dogs running free off leashes invading your camp spot. We have seen people drive their vehicles down in to areas where there are signs posted that vehicles are not permitted. Even though there are boat ramps we have seen people back down to the water all over the place to load or unload boats and they tear up the ground. This would definitely be a great place if they enforced the rules instead of just driving around in circles doing nothing all day while people treat this place like a free for all. They also have a huge problem with people leaving trailers in prime spots when they aren't using them. We have seen several trailers in prime spots and no one has been to them in 4-5 days. I get the rules state that you can camp for 14 days at a time but they also say anything unattended for 72 hours is abandoned. These trailers should be towed out to the field by the rangers trailer and those premium spots freed up for people who are actually using their campers not just treating this place like free trailer storage. Along with this they have problems with people saving multiple spots for their friends. Long story short, it would be a awesome weekend getaway spot if the on-site rangers would...
Read moreSites are decent size and it is a pretty area. HOWEVER, trains run all through the night and there is some type of irrigation pump on the other side of the reservoir that thumps all night. The pit toilets are disgusting and the reservoir water is filthy and most likely full of pesticides. There is absolutely no enforcement of any rules by the rangers. Music blasts well into the night, not that it's much worse than the noise of the trains. Dogs roam off leash constantly, some presenting a threat to other campers and their animals. Locals freely "squat" on sites for the summer and the rangers do nothing about it. So, if you can sleep through anything, don't plan on going into the water. have access to your own toilet, enjoy fighting off aggressive dogs, and can find a decent spot...this may be the place for you. Otherwise, don't waste your time and money...
Read moreReally liked this campground and even decided to stay and extra 10 days beyond our original plan. Host is super friendly and helpful. Town in only about 8 miles away for laundry, supply and food runs. We even found a Geocash and added to it. Nice place to sit around the fire and relax while roasting marshmallows. Got a late night visit from a raccoon and daily visits from the squirrels. Nice place to visit and well...
