I had low expectations and thought it was more a reptile thing from some ads. Turns out they had a wide variety of animals and way bigger than I thought it would be. Love that we could feed almost all the animals and that they were close up and close together. The usage of kid things for houses, and the pony castle was cute and creative. Also that the animals were very active with humans was nice. For a tiny zoo it was fairly busy on Father’s Day. We will definitely be back. It was a fun little gem! The down side was $10 per person despite the child’s age. But they do have punch cards to earn a free pass. We were only there maybe a hour to go through it. You can buy a tiny cup of nutt snacks or fresh fruit snacks to feed the animals for $2 each, again I thought a bit high for the tiny amount. But of course my 5 yr old wanted to feed them. Fathers did get a free cup for Father’s Day so that was nice. So we had 2 cups and rationed 1-2 snacks per cage (skipping the birds) to feed all the animals, on just bearly enough. *Negative side: was a huge childhood trama was triggered for me upon entering the tiny shed for entry payment. As they have several “real” stuff heads and a full bear in a very tiny little space that’s only a couple inches from the top of people’s heads. HATED this part!!! Pure trigger panic!!! Loved the zoo part so I’ll come back, but I hope someone else can pay and I can just quickly get through the two doors for enter/exit. Cause I really HATED being in that shed with the dead animals so claustrophobic everywhere and so close to me...
Read morePete and his wife have an incredible zoo! My boyfriend and I are road-tripping to Chicago from California and we found Pete’s Safari on Google Maps. We were greeted by the friendliest women at the front door. Admission was $8 per person and food was $2 per cup, which was a steal!
The diversity of animals at the zoo is amazing. To name a few — they have a camel, an arctic fox, and lemurs from Madagascar. You can feed almost all of the adorable animals and pet many of them too. Pete, the owner, was there bringing out baby animals for everyone at the zoo to pet and enjoy.
As we were leaving, Pete’s wife was kind enough to introduce herself and offer us some of her yummy freeze-dried goodies for our road trip. She sells these at the front counter and they are very tasty. (Thank you for our first freeze-dried candy experience!) We are so appreciative and glad to have stumbled across this wonderful place. We will be back.
If you happen to live nearby, or even far away, we would 100% suggest stopping by. You...
Read moreI went to Pete’s Safari recently and witnessed raccoons that were put close together that is causing them to fight each other. The camel was scared and standing facing the corner. It is all by itself in a small area 24 hours a day 7 days w week. How do isolated animals keep their will to live? And what happens in the winter to all of the animals that are not meant to be in a cold climate? I strongly urge people to stand up for the rights of animals. I am not a member of P.E.T.A, People for the ethical treatment of animals. I do however need to voice the inhumane treatment of the animals, just so they can be enslaved only to be put on display for people to go look at them as if the animals don’t feel emotions. These animals are enslaved against their natural primal ways of living. Please please use your voice to stop the unethical treatment of animals. To only cage them for the purpose of being on display and used for man to profit at the expense of exploiting God’s...
